he is, sincerely, unbelievably difficult to root for.

I like nothing about him. he does absolutely nothing from me in a hockey sense. I can't find anything I like about what he does game to game.

he better make me look like a f***ing idiot this year or there could be legit boo birds from MSG on him at some point.

I’m not going to bash this kid anymore, sure I joke, but to bash him, it goes against my nature. I hope he figures it out, Rangers really need him to.

He was one of the players that had to prove something, got demoted in a preseason game, so yeah, here we are.

I think everyone wants him to succeed. He makes it really hard with how he has played the past couple games. Everything is forced/turned-over.

Yeah, if there was effort and smart plays it would be ok, even if it didn‘t show up on the score-sheet. What he is doing is being lazy with no efforts or smart plays. He got called out on the broadcast, not even Joe could come to his defense.

I actually think there’s a possibility that in like 20 years MSG will be airing a Rangers retrospective and they’ll talk about the dark ages in the late 90s/early 2000s and then the Lundqvist era and SCF heartbreak, letter, emergence of Fox & Shesterkin and additions of Panarin, Captain Trouba, Cup winner Goodrow, etc. the trip to the ECF, going for it by adding superstars Tarasenko and Goodrow, etc., etc. and it will be riddled with narration, spoken in that deep, serious sports documentary voice, along the lines of:

They looked poised for another strong season, but yet again, the Rangers prized prospect failed to make an impact

Again questions began to arise regarding the recent #1 pick

Now on his fourth coach in 5 years, Lafreniere’s NHL future was beginning to become uncertain

… essentially he’s shaping up to be a historical person in NYR history because simplified, after-the-fact takes on this time in organization history will look back on Lafreniere busting was the difference between a Cup or not for this iteration.

What was said? I abandoned the game at the end of the second.

I am honestly questioning if he legit wants to be in MTL (or elsewhere) at this point.

He either doesn't want to be here or he's really this mediocre.

Yeah... pre-season. I get that. But he looks exactly the same as he does in the reg season or playoffs or in the drive through window.

Very sad.
I think he wanted MTL from the very beginning. He doesn’t care about winning — just MTL. He is the anti-Roy.

I didn't see the game but someone needs to get through to him. Let him know what he is doing is not working. That the only way up is to put in the work. Not only in games. In extra practice training sessions. He has to want it. Nobody can do it for him.

People think NY is tough? MTL would be 10 times tougher on him.

I've been told by MSG (TV production) folks that he isn't interested in that.

That Gallant wrote him off fairly early. Take that for what it's worth.

But the results DO, sadly, back up that summation.

MTL is the ultimate pressure. But maybe that’s what he needs. He’ll still disappoint, but maybe he’ll be a 50 point player — until he’s driven out into oblivion.

Sincere question (not doubting your assertion): how did you come across this info / the production folks? No need to provide names.
