Laf should have more goals than he does. He is always noticeable on the ice but hasnt had any puck luck. I really like what i see with him and definitely think he is about to break through.
Also Laf is a takeaway machine. Seemed like he picked Eichel's pocket at least 3 times yesterday

We hoped it would come sooner, but the wait was worth it and I truly believe that getting this weight off his shoulders will help him immensely. He’s been visible, he’s been in the right places and he’s had some close calls. I think things will start coming quickly now. I bet he breaks 25-30 points by the end of the year. And I won’t be disappointed if he doesn’t, but I just feel like he will. Either way, well worth the wait; we got an iconic moment out of it. Love seeing the fist pump from Laf as Panarin storms off the bench with the headlock. Etched in memory.

He was buzzing last night especially in the final 2 periods, you could tell he was really pressing for that goal which is why he rushed those chances that were saved. Hopefully this loosens him up and he can take off like GME

well he had a couple of rough games, game 1 vs Pitt and game 1 vs Buffalo. But the team was awful as a whole. Team played well yesterday and he benefited. Hope the whole team can keep it going.

Honestly I think Alexis can get back to where he was in juniors as far as his cardiovascular fitness goes. He put on a lot of muscle, and I know he is well trained but sometimes you get the bulk by not burning off the calories. A couple of bag skates should do it. The size is there, but being able to get that chance at the end of the shift, that's going to help pile up the points.

Thought he and Zibs started to get in rhythm, and Buchie was good. Like the thought of pairing Zibanejad and Lafreniere, and Kreider and Kakko. It's a good way for the older guys to demonstrate their leadership capabilities. Kreider was here when the Pouliot-Brass-Zucc like was effective, would be cool if he could be the guy that drives a line like that but bigger, stronger, and faster.

Looks like he pulled an Owen Nolan.

Nolan tried to bulk up for the NHL after he was drafted, hurt his game, scored 3 goals his rookie year. The next offseason he added alot of cardio to his regiment and the rest is history.

Those were the old days though, once AL13 is in top game shape he's gonna be a player.

That was Dube's issue too no? I hope AL hasn't been eating horse meat.

Stutzle is struggling a lot and he scored early and people were calling him better than Alexis. This stuff is hard. Give it some time. Statistically he is not far behind the average top 3 pick 7 games into his career. Kane of all people scored in his 7th game for the first time.

I started looking into this too, but then I gave up.

I think everyone has to keep in mind that all comparisons to former #1's or top 3s have to be ripped up and thrown out this year, and maybe next year as well.

All of the Kane's, Hall's, Ovy's, Crosby's etc of the past didn't have to deal with a pandemic forcing them into a shortened camp & season, no preseason games at all and a severe lack of real game preparation over the months prior leading into the year. Not to mention all of the other protocols and other things no player expected to encounter.

So its really tough to gauge.

I don't think Lafreniere has had any trouble with "bulking up too much". He's not slow out there and if he's looking gassed at the end of the shift it's far far more likely because the NHL pace and competition is wildly higher than anything he's faced before and he didn't even have a real training camp
Think some of ya'll are thinking too hard about it
