At this point, all I want to know is:

1. Does this kid really love video games?
2. Are his parents rich?

As long as the answer to both of those questions is “no” I’ll take a few steps back from the ledge.

Nah, needs to learn how to dump the puck first, and play a no-risk game
I've been following this kid around forever (in a non creepy fashion). I've met members of his family. I have a feeling that before long he will have a higher goals per game than Morgan Geekie. This kid is the best prospect that we've ever had. Don't get me wrong, when Leetch came into the league he was better but I'm talking about as a prospect. Better than Kakko, who previously was our best.

Laf was invisible last night
Its ok if he isn't scoring but he isnt doing anything
He looks lost
He's not battling
Not skating
I do think he excells as a line driver
He needs the puck
But kakko also needs the puck and we saw last night how good kakko was with it
Laf shouldnt play with kakko
They dont compliment eachother
They both need the puck
Hopefully both will learn eventually how to be effective without it
That will take years

Watching highlights of the Sens Leafs game tonight. Stutzle was held pointless, but midway thru the second period he made a play where he took the puck off the boards, deked two Leafs to get himself open in the slot, and then put a hard shot on goal that was ultimately saved.

When I talk about wanting to see “flashes” from Laf and Kakko, it’s plays like this that I’m talking about. And this isn’t because I am excited to have Laf here so he can score highlight reel goals. I’m excited because he’s supposed to be skilled enough to create something out of nothing and to do so on his own.

I’d be fine with the lack of production if he was showing me this ability every once in awhile. I may have a selective memory at this point but I can’t recall him doing something like this in a game yet. This is why I’m “worried” and being labeled as a “bed wetter” by some.

3:43 mark, Matthews goal that immediately precedes the play is worth watching as well.

Better that he’s gonna be with two guys that really don’t need Puck in Blackwell and Rooney. Much better than being with Strome or howden

Laf is a ghost most games. Not engaged, not aggressive, completely anonymous most of the time. He was good his first couple of games and then all downhill since then

I truly can't say he was good in the early games, nor had complete good games. (early on he had very low mins) He doesn't look out of place, but he's not being what everyone wanted him to be immediately out of the gate. Full disclosure, I'm absolutely guilty of expecting and wanting more out of the gate - but I do have patience and have adjusted my expectations of the teenager.

I find throughout the first 14, he's shown flashes of being engaged/physical and some good hands in traffic. There's also lots of peeling away early and often, and overall just seems to be over and above on playing incredibly safe. Like...seemingly frightened to try anything. Maybe he sees how the forward vets are treated/disciplined for their mistakes? Don't know.

The games I do notice him more engaged overall, are the games he's played more minutes. I know playoffs are not expected this year, we're rebuilding and taking our lumps so far this season, so I feel this kid should be out there every other shift. This kid should not be seeing <15 mins a night.

I haven't coached at any professional level so just my opinion, here's to hoping and a true test of my patience and liver lol :)

This is why a lot of people here want Quinn gone. He seems to be neutering the offensive creativity of the entire team, and even more so the youth, in an attempt to build defensive structure and win games. I don’t want a losing culture to set in here, but we are losing games anyway and in my opinion not developing the areas of the game that this team will ultimately succeed off of (if they do ultimately succeed).

Laf just isn't a dog on loose pucks or a guy who'll work his ass off to get in and throw himself into the fire on the puck. He also doesn't keep his stick down enough, and throws dumb hits when he should keep his stick down and block a lane or poke at the puck in advantageous spots. He doesn't have that dogged determination to just hound defenders. Kakko has that trait and that work effort and he just hunts pucks down this season and doesn't give defenders time to breathe. He suffocates them.

Laf just glides in, glides in, slowly... looks like he doesn't even give two shits half the time. It's a bit sad.

The same stuff was being said about Kakko last season...he seems to be playing pretty well this year. Fact is there aren't many 18 year old forwards who can just walk in and play well in the NHL anymore. It was a lot easier years ago when the current players weren't as fast and they had that advantage over them, the game has gotten much quicker.

And again, the kid hasnt played competitive hockey for almost a year, and walked into the NHL without even a real training camp and preseason.

Lets all relax a bit.

The he's only 18 excuse (He's actually 19 and a few months and was one of the oldest players in his draftclass) has become tiresome. Every other #1 pick forward outside of Jack Hughes since the land before time has produced at a top-6 rate at the very least in their rookie seasons and some of them actually were 18. Is he a bust? No. Is this a legitimate excuse for his lack of production and overall ineffectiveness? No.

Fourteen games.....

The fans have learned nothing I guess from shitting on Kakko all last year during his rookie year.

3pts in 13 games is not good
