Panarin is the only forward on the team who has played 15 min per game at even strength. Like where do you pull this target number from?
Colin Blackwell played 19 minutes last game....that is unacceptable.

he also needs to be on pp2 at a minimum.

also I never said anything about playing 15 es minutes a game

the devils suck. That is the time to play the kids. Not force feed minutes to players that mean shit to our future

As disjointed and most times clueless with horrific anticipation, it's amazing that he has 8 goals. Just goes to show how much talent he has, and when he "figures it out" and gets stronger there should be no doubting he will be a 30-40 goal scorer. Don't think he will be great in the assist column, but then again, I may be wrong. Suppose it depends on who is linemates are and if they can put the biscuit in the bag.

@Edge has made this point a ton, but if you look at Lafreniere and Kakko in comparison with the other U20 players in the league, they range from good to excellent as far as their results.

Lafreniere is 9th in 5v5 p/60 and 5th in 5v5 G/60.
Kakko and Lafreniere are 7th and 8th in ixGF/60.
Kakko is 4th in on-ice xGA/60 and 2nd in xGF%.
And they're 10 and 13th from the bottom in on-ice SH%.

For an 18 and 19 year old with such obvious talent, I think there's plenty of room for optimism about how the box stats will develop.

Not that I buy into the argument that Laf and Kakko are disappointing, but you make it sound like there are a lot of U20 players in the league...How many are there? Like maybe 20, tops?

Had one of his better games... really should’ve come away with 2 points. The progression has been slow with him but he’s finally turning into at least somewhat of a threat out there. I’m slightly less worried about him than Kakko although I think both will ultimately be fine

I disagree with that. Lafreniere will be a great goal scorer, but will be an even better playmaker. He has the IQ. He has the vision. And he’s already one of the best passers on the team.

In Lafreniere’s first 15 games, which pretty much equates to a full training camp, preseason and maybe a handful of games in a regular year, he had 1 goal and was a minus 7.

In the 33 games since, he’s posted 8 goals and 15 points.

@Tawnos ran the numbers: over those 33 games, his ES p/60 is 2.23.

So he's not a bust? :P

Probably a safe prediction, but I think he's gonna have a monster D+2. I can see him take a Svechnikov-esque leap, particularly in terms of how he finishes his checks and punishes the D on the forecheck. Was a big part if his game in the juniors, but he's definitely holding up and dipping his toe in this season (understandably).

Hopefully a notch above Svech on the score sheet, that would make him a weapon.

Of course, all assuming he gets legit minutes and PP usage, which i'm confident he will.

It’a not just Laf. I added up Laf/Chytil/Kakko’s point totals over the last month and the average was 45 points per 82 games. They’ve definitely been doing work recently.

Okay and even though I beg to differ "right now", doesnt necessarily mean he wont be. To me he looks more like a half Kreider (getting goals in front, somewhat greasy, picking up loose change but with "hands") and half Panarin with a nasty shot. If that is the case, he'll score plenty.
Maybe I am comparing his passing skills to Panarin and even Stromer to some degree. Just dont see him seeing the ice the way they do. Yet.

If Laf gets 1st line minutes and replaced say Strome on PP1 then yes
