Well, it worked for Stamkos. When Stamkos struggled at the start of his career, the coach in Tampa actually sat him, asked him to observe a few specific things and wanted him to think of how he could implement that in his game. And he did.

A struggling rookie Stamkos still produced 46P (23+23) in 79 games though.

No worries, can almost guarantee he will be scratched for Kravtsov to get his 10 minutes next game.

Honestly Laf was horrible for the 4-5 minutes he played up until his goal.

It looked like he didn’t know where to be on the ice and was really late to making reads defensively.

It will take a lot of patience. But to say Quinn is killing the kid is just silly. He needs to earn his ice time and if he isn’t playing well enough to force the issue then you let him watch at this level or send him down.

It's on the coaching staff to teach the kid if he doesn't know what to do out there. If they are unable to do that, get someone who can.

There was a play in the 2nd where Chytil was streaking towards the net all alone and Laf threw a weak shot at the net 2 feet wide on the short side. That is not a generational play.

That is a KID trying to find his place in the league while playing for 13 minutes per game.

Eat the whole prescription of chill pills sir.

This forum would have crucified Nathan MacKinnon.

These kids will be fine. You all need a chill pill.

So just because a kid doesn’t develop right away it’s the coaching staffs fault?

So Kakko developing this season isn’t a result of the coaching staff teaching him?

This is a difficult game at the NHL level for an 18 year old to get. It takes time.

Nathan MacKinnon came in and racked up 60 points as a rookie.

Laf is gonna be be fine. But his season has been historically bad to a degree and I don’t blame fans at all for being pissed/worried/upset/confused. Nobody is calling him a bust.

Not entirely but yea a big part. If game after game he doesn't know what to do on the ice then yea i'm sure going to blame the guys who are suppose to be teaching and developing these kids.

I honestly wonder how he thinks he's playing. He seems to be smiling during games with seemingly a good attitude still which is nice to see....he's always been highly touted, and "the man" and now he's barely doing anything on the ice.... I wonder if he's just afraid to go for more, whether it's because of the coaching staff or him personally. Or maybe he really is just having issues adjusting his game to the NHL. I'm still confident he'll be a star, but I wish we could get even a flash or two of his skill once in a while.

For all we know he's homesick. Can't really bond with the team due to COVID. I'm not worried about him long term but he does look lost out there most of the time.

We have two of the worst performing 1st overall/2nd overall picks. Both guys were unanimous at their position and strong 1st and 2nd overall. This wasn't Yakupov of Stefan in weak ass drafts. Both guys were supposed to be studs. Instead we get worse player development than the worst franchise in the last 20 years in Edmonton. Hell, looking at Eichel, we have worse player development than the second worst franchise of the last 20 years too. Though Dahlin has regressed.

“Player development” takes longer than 34 pandemic games or a season and a half of time for 18-19 year olds.

I think that’s the disconnect between how some fans are reacting and how others are trying to remain patient.

Does it suck? Sure
