You don't think Panarin can snipe like that? Not taking anything away from that incredible shot. Nor am I taking anything away from Gaborik's ability to snipe either.

But I think Panarin has an accurate laser beam like that too:

Difference is HUGE

Being a righty from that spot, your angles are almost all dead on straight.

From where Laf was to where the puck crossed the line? that angle was ridiculous

CK had a worse angle unscreened snipe ripped the other week I believe, his was of course lucky though

Yea I can see what you're saying now. Thanks for pointing that out.

Talk about zero patience.

My brother bet me he would either be off the team or a complete bust on the lower lines. Adamant about it. Wasnt impressed.

He wanted me to bet $300 that Laf would not be a top 6 forward and top 6 leading scorer on the Rangers in 5 years. Of course I took the bet and told him I'd bet another $300 he would be that in 3 years.

He texted me last night "Should I Venmo you now?"
Your brother sounds not smart. Even if Laf was playing horribly that’s still a bad bet

Did your brother have posters of Skip Bayless and Stephen A growing up, instead of athletes?

this is good, good very good. shifts and TOI and TSA's are up. and the kid can snipe. not quite yzerman or ovechkin bur perhaps a work in progress towards that direction.

now we have 3 laser snipers at forward - laffy, zib and bread.

Now if only Laffy can use his shot well from the right side half boards, we will have the left shot threat on the PP.

He’s got 52 total shot attempts in 21 games, with 27 hitting the net. And he’s converted 15% of those into goals.

He’s clearly got a good shot, he just needs to shoot more. I wonder if it’s rookie trepidation. Younger guys tend to overpass because a shot that doesn’t result in a goal is essentially a turnover.

Kreider shot that between the legs of the defenseman, it was a screened shot but also labeled for the upper corner

Laf's shot was nasty and unscreened, hope we see more of that from him

I feel like he's definitely more hesistant when platying with star vets, like he's trying to figure out how to play with them but not get in their way. Been getting better at that though

I mean I would as well. Joins a team that already has Panarin and Mika on it. As a 19 year old playing your first games in the NHL you are going to be a little starstruck. The last thing you want to be labeled is a selfish player so early in your career.

That shot was what I saw from him in the Q, that heavy wrister, he really leans into it and gets great flex which causes it to expolode off his stick. And he got that shot off quick, didn't take a second to control it, just immediate snipe job. Matthews-esque. Get him on the PP!
When Gretzky was asking the top prospects of the 2020 draft questions, Laf was their unanimous pick for the player whose shot they wouldn't want to get in front of & the player they wouldn't want to get hit by

a comparison I could not ignore, even though these charts don't enlighten me much

Different snipe from CK, bottom of the left circle and unscreened, no D between him and the goalie. Can’t remember against who.

I said this last week. The only thing he really needs to improve right now is simply shooting more.

Ripping one like last night should do a lot for his comfort/confidence it shooting more often.

Might have to revise projection.

20-20 in the final 40

Starting to get the feeling that not playing since March has had more of an effect on Laf than we think.

Additionally with Panarin, Mika and CK, I think he deferred more than he probably should have.

Offensively he seems to be more assertive and decisive along with some puck luck the numbers are starting to add up.

Both points were of the top end skill variety. That HAS to have some serious confidence building elements to them.

Looking forward to the rest of the season for sure.
