Not me. I have 3 ovi rookie cards. And I have the Beehive one also, all in mint condition. The faster he does it, the faster the price goes up. They are already at $1500 to $2500. I got them out of packs so I only paid a few bucks.
Which is the most valuable? Not that expensive honestly….congrats! Must be fun sitting on those…

I don’t have any cool hockey stuff but I was lucky enough to briefly get into cards exactly during the Lebron rookie cards, just tons of them, no idea what they’ll be like but it’s fun to speculate

Good to see Ovie get the goal tonight. He's still got the quick and deadly release, it's just a matter of him being in the right spots and his line mates finding him. Now we just have to get the one-timer on the PP going and we'll be set. The lack of scoring on the PP is the only big thing missing right now.

Carlson is no threat to score, so they just leave that shot open and are shading Ovechkin. Start putting shots on net and it'll open up.

Carlson has a cannon of a shot and his accuracy is fairly good; I wish he would use it more, but he defers to Ovie more than he should. The biggest problem on the PP is that Ovie's one-timer hasn't been clicking. The PP revolves around that one-timer, so it's not a surprise that we have a terrible PP%. I don't know if it's just him going through a rough stretch or it's a timing thing with the rest of the powerplay unit.

The only ways to fix this are either to get the one-timer going again or somebody else has to step up and start scoring. Oshie was the other threat up until this season, but he isn't that guy anymore with the way he's playing now. That leaves Wilson, Kuznetsov, Carlson, or Strome to fill the gap. One of them has to step up and become a real threat.

OV's been snakebit this season at 7.6% shooting (career 12.9% )
could easily be at 6 or 7+ goals (esp with the horrible PP one-timer passes so far)
has he lost a step? maybe
but he looked pretty much the same most of last year and still produced 42g in 73gp

Odds are he's getting 300 shots this year, if he has a near-career low 10% shooting that's still a 30g season

It's still ridiculously early in the season, let's see where he's at come game 25 or so

Still absolutely convinced he is going to do it. Only 69 goals away now, 3 years left on his contract.

Totally this. 30+25+15 gets him there, tires smoking, doors falling off, no bumpers and holes in the convertible top. But it gets him there.

I like Ovi, but have never understood why the record is such a big deal, because the real record to me is total goals scored in the NHL, meaning 1,016 by Wayne Gretzky. I know the argument is some teams don't make the playoffs, but for that matter, why not equate the number of regular season games? Or how about the number of minutes on the ice? I suppose 894 is a meaningful record, but so many are saying Ovi will become the greatest goal scorer of all time, and sorry, I just don't think that statement can be made. He is only approaching 898 now, so that record for Wayne is safe. Again, let's say it correctly: 894 is the regular season record. But the most goals scored in a career in the National Hockey League is 1,016.

I like how when Ovie gets within striking distance of the record, the next step for his detractors is to move the goal posts.

P.S. You DO realize this is the Capitals forum right?

Interesting perspective. You know who does think it's a record and does think it's a big deal? Wayne Gretzky.

Fair enough Calicaps, I'm glad Wayne says that and credit him for it. SmokingMan, the goal posts are not being moved - I wrote that 894 is the regular season record, and 1,016 is the number of goals scored in a career in the National Hockey League. That's not moving goal posts, it's just pointing out that 894 is a regular season record, which is often overlooked. And yes it's a Caps forum, but I've seen plenty of criticism of them (especially this year) on this forum. I do want Ovi to beat Wayne, especially ever since Wayne refused to be interviewed for the World Cup 1996 special about Team USA beating Canada (the first time USA beat Canada in best vs best). He can be a sore loser (it's a great special - called "Orchestrating an Upset").
