Excited for Tuch getting ingrained in this lineup. I think he'll eventually settle into a 2nd line role here once Quinn and Peterka develop a little more. I think they're our top-line wingers of the future.

Tuch is the perfect captain for this team and is locked in through most of his prime. I could see him spending the rest of his career here and being the right type of young leader this team needs.

Tuch with 7 pts in 7 gms for the Sabres. I like him with Cozens, upgrade that other wing (Quinn or JJ) and that should be a nice line.

I wouldn't get too crazy about Tuch. He's a great middle six guy who normally will be 50-60 player. Anointing him captain would be so Buffalo. Let him play, do his thing and love being a Sabre. He's going to be a leader either way. And a solid player. There's no need to already dump stuff on him. We can have a bunch of A's and alternate C's for a bit. We need better players (including goalies). The naming of C is just not a priority now.

A guy who is going to be a leader either way is exactly the type of guy to be named Captain. Trying to use the C to turn someone into a leader has...not been successful in our recent history.

Pysyk has been wearing an A with Girgensons out. If Okposo misses games, they may need another alternate.

50-60 points every season would be amazing, with everything else he brings — you say it like it’s an insult.

You know who else was a 50-60 point player most of his career?

Chris Drury. I can see Tuch touching 65 points given more minutes than he had in Vegas.

I doubt they name a captain this season.

But, I think Tuch is the best option to name captain heading into next season.

He has enough experience to handle it and he is signed for a while. Plus, it gives the young guys like Cozens, Dahlin, Samuelsson, Krebs, etc time to grow as leaders.

Actually I think his role will likely lead to reduced production since we simply don't have the two way wingers. During Tuch's best season with Vegas, (52 pts in 74 games), he was seeing pretty high Ozone starts. Those high ozone starts will likely go to wingers like Quinn next year.

If Tuch can give us 20 G/20 A, strong two way play, and be a leader for a very young team, it's a great thing. I don't see him getting consistently above 50 pts.

With the Sabres so far, Tuch is seeing the second lowest oZS% of his career.

I doubt he stays a PPG guy long term. But, I do think he can be a 50+ pt per year guy here. Plus, I won't be shocked if he is on a line with Quinn moving forward and gets a healthy dose of O Zone starts.

:dunno:

That proves my point even more then - Tuch doesn’t need to score 70 points to be a captain. He can be a great leader with 40 points if he’s playing the right way and inspiring guys to hit their potential.

Would be very much like Dustin Brown was in LA for their cup years.

Yeah no. Dustin Brown was a bowling ball on skates in his younger years. Tuch doesn't shy away, but he doesn't have near the physical impact Brown had.
Wasn't comparing their playstyle. More their point production not necessarily being the highest on the team, but still able to effectively be a leader in the room and be a guy for the other players to look up to.

There isn’t a metric for it, but Tuch is an elite hugger of teammates.

He is the perfect guy to get in an Eichel trade. He’s playing well, he loves being a Sabre, and he seems to be a great teammate and person.

He is quickly becoming my favorite player on the team.

Now imagining Tuch giving awkward emotional support hugs to teammates like Meat Loaf in Fight Club.

It'll be a no brainer when they give him the C in the off-season
