Looking forward to seeing his video tribute tomorrow. Probably be one for Eakin as well since this is his first trip back to Vegas as an opponent. Krebs will probably get a little blurb but he didn't play here that much.

Eakins' part in the Pavs thing, with the San Jose comeback while he was in the box, probably leaves the tribute video out.

He strikes me more as an A given his age compared to the rest of the core. Love having him, but the next captain probably oughta be under 25.

Given how young the core is, that has me leaning more towards someone with more experience.

Tuch ticks all the boxes for me.

Loves being a Sabre? CHECK
Under contract for a while? CHECK
Has the respect from a member, or members, of the young core? CHECK [Just look at what Krebs says about their relationship]
Has experience in the playoffs? CHECK
Can still be a player that produces? CHECK

Sign me up. The 25 year old captain we deserve, instead of the one we shipped out.

Having a captain under 25 is too risky. Look at our previous captain. You need someone mature in that role and someone who can keep their emotions in check, motivate the other players and that the other players can look to for guidance. Right now that's Tuch, and I was on the let's wait and see how things go in the room camp when he first got here. Since he returned from injury it's been pretty clear he's one of the leaders on the ice, both with his effort and body language.

Prior to the trade, I was of the mind that the best idea was to give Okposo the C until his contract was up as he was the most respected vet on the team and it would have given them the runway to find the right guy to be the next captain.

Then they added Tuch and he has does nothing but show that he is captain material.

I would be very confused if he isn't made C next season if he continues like that, can't think of anyone else on this roster who deserves it more or wouldn't be overhelmed because they play a demanding position and still have to find their game.

Prior to the deal, I was more on the "Extend Zemgus and give him the C" bandwagon.

Not anymore. Let the season play out. Then in the doldrums of the offseason, the C adorns #89 once more.

His raw energy is something else. He definitely deserves it. It's impossible to hate the guy.

NHL power rankings: We send one extra person to All-Star weekend from each team

30. Buffalo Sabres

Record: 14-24-7
Last week: 30
Dom rank: 30
Sean rank: 30

Send him to Vegas: Alex Tuch

Dom: It’s a shame he was injured for so long because his presence at the All-Star Game wouldn’t be a sham, unlike the guy actually representing the team. Tuch has been a revelation and it would be nice to get the old band back together in Vegas.

Sean: We had a really nice talk with him on the podcast a couple weeks back, and I heard from a toooon of Vegas fans who miss him.
