I wonder if it's just a coincidence that the couple of posters who have been making the ridiculously biased posts against one Nylander are the same ones making the ridiculously biased posts against the other Nylander?

May be some of that going on but...

When Alex is moving and engaged he has a good stick and hands. When he isn't he comes off as passive and indecisive, for instance I can think of about 3 instances last night where he was required to use his body and went out of his way to not even bump or lean into the opponent. It looked incredibly weak to watch and no doubt Berube will cringe.

Simple as this.. If he can't be assertive he won't be anything. If next time he takes to the ice and goes out there on a mission and shows that he wants it more, he can stay. He looks like he is incapable of getting angry to me, like there is no fire, it's just a mass with skill moving around there playing like Dr Spock. The tools are there but you gotta use them. The guys not even small, he tested as one of the most powerful players per kg or whatever if I remember.

He plays like he is like driving a hummer exclusively in subdivisions.

He will not make it once everyone is healthy. Too many better players unless he breaks out soon.

It looks like he is already being scratched tonight so time is running out. He needs to show more grit, to much of a finesse player.

That will simply not happen. He's not that player, never was
There really isn't anything to like here. Just not an NHLer

He'll go back to AHL and at some point next year he'll be back in SHL.

I think if you are looking for either brother to be a 'power forward' you're fooling yourself.

On the other hand at the moment he's second on the team in takeaways/60.

But your analysis is reasonable, unlike some of the "barely an AHL player" takes, which come from the same posters who regularly deride his brother.

I see the opposite. He’s weak on the puck and him losing that puck battle led to that great Stolarz glove save.

I think we are going to see the end of him as a leaf very soon.
Haha, fair enough. Maybe my eye test is influenced by expectation.

Rough night. Few good plays but the he looked like he was weak and just not into it again.

Ya, he’s not very good.

He has flashes where you mistake him for William briefly. Skating is very similar.

He had one shift where he exerted himself and was absolutely flying and backchecking hard. I was impressed, it was the first time I saw the talent underneath but he cant even sustain that work ethic for more than a couple of shifts.

Its too bad, the talent is there just not the determination or effort. Shocking that even millions of dollars cant motivate some people. Maybe send him to pump gas for a few weeks and see if it changes his mind (like it did Matt Frattin).

I think Craig has seen enough

And you cannot say this guy didn’t have the chances

He was given all the chances on a platter. Just doesn’t have it. Offers nothing.

The first couple games he was just neutral. But now he is a liability on the ice.

It was very frustrating last night. Noticed the same thing. It's all about lack of urgency and effort, just inst there.

If playing with your brother can't get you moving and working your ass off, nothing will.

It amazes me about some people I guess. I feel the same way about Fredy Gauthier. Big, can skate, should be a force to play against. All he had to do was compete, put in work and you could have a sustain in NHL

A.Nylander is the same. I guess it helps when you already come from rich family as Nylanders are. But there's nothing there.

For now, just a filler.

I don’t think him being ineffective on the 4th line as a Leaf says a hell of a lot about whether he could be effective in the NHL. He’s very miscast right now as I see it. That said, I also don’t think anyone should assume he performs with greater opportunity either

I think he’s done. Not playing against Nashville

He will go down to the AHL and we will not see him again

another game he didn’t play. I think his time is done as a leaf. Just lacks that intensity
