The bigger worry is Dach’s injury going forward.
It is a worry, because he is Dach and all. But, the prognosis is pretty good. I shared this in the Dach thread after he got hurt.

"100% were able to RTS(return to sport) the season after ACL reconstruction (mean, 7.8 ± 2.4 months)"

"The NHL players reviewed in this study who underwent ACL reconstruction did not see either a decline or improvement in their performance after surgery. This is a reassuring finding as surgeons would not expect to find an improvement in performance after surgery but rather hope to prevent a decline in performance. Also, despite the fact that the NHL players who underwent ACL reconstruction performed better than the control group in some performance variables after surgery, this statistic may be construed as players who have ACL reconstruction do better than those who do not. The players who had ACL reconstruction may have been more elite athletes to begin with and had not had a chance to fully develop prior to their injury. Also, in their recovery period after surgery, they are spared the rigors of playing in game situations, and so when they did return from their injury, their bodies were rested and primed for competition."

We have every reason to be optimistic!

Knee injuries ain't what these used to be. With science and rehabilitation methods at an all time advanced level, our boy Kirby will be just fine.

With today's technology the great Bobby Orr would have played several more years.

Anyway the best news is that isn't his hands anymore. Yeah he have some injuries, but not in same place. So it will be fine. Dach will comeback stronger than never and will happy to play hockey again!!

Probably worse when it's different injuries. It just means a player is too fragile for contact sports. Especially in the case of injuries on plays (like Dach's) that shouldn't have resulted in more than a minor injury.

It can be, but.... it takes more than the 6-9 month timeline.
There is also the mental aspect of playing "free" like you once did. That takes playing time, and around another year from what I've seen.
You 100 pct right . I torn mine , and just playing recreational sport You tentative and scared after

Based on what, exactly?

Fall on your wrist like he did and let's see how yours react.

Frank Gore tore both his ACL in college and went on to be the player with most game played at his position in NFL history, would you say that he's too fragile for contact sport?

Every day a NFL football player tears their ACL making a cut into grass/turf.. yet this guy is proclaiming Dach can't play because his knee got hyper-extended by a 6'7 guy pushing him over the boards and giving his body nowhere to twist.

Was the same for me too. I was never able to mentally recover although I did physically. My head was always afraid to get hurt again. My sports days ended there at 15 years old.

Though I am sure we never had or will have the support the pros get :) so I have no worries for dach at all , if anything I expect him to be stronger coming back

I just forget that we have Newhook on the team. But his 23 games are looking very promising. I don't see why he can't become a 55-60 points for Habs, he have great tools to be a really good top 6 player. I really like his speed, hands, two-way game, shot, passing ability, he is more skilled than Lehkonen//Byron, but have same competitive in him like both. I can't wait to see him comeback.

I'd bet on him, even more than Dach, at having a true break out season next year. If healthy, he's going to flirt with a ppg season. Book it
