yeesh.

Bobby Smith was pretty instrumental in the '86 cup win.
No good fact; I own a Smith Nescafe coffee mug that dates back to 1988. I also own a Stephane Richer Nescafe mug, which I refer to as my kids.

Smith will not be rivaled by captHook I think. The string of bust numbers cannot be beaten. It’s in the same abyss as 22 was before Caufield, big shoes to fill

You need something to give you back a good feeling.

How long before your next trip to the Dominican? Spoke to a guy who came back from there 2 weeks ago and loved it. Stayed 10 days, bought a Sunwing package, all inclusive $3000 for 2 people. He used $50 US in $1 for tips.

I hear they have nice wholesome mamas in Dominican. Might indeed give me a good feeling. Muy bien, muy bien.

Somewhere around 3.1M per............the term will be 3-4 years....

I'm curious to see if it's close to Dach. Not much talk about a 6 year deal. Most of us think it's 2-4 years. I personally like staggering contracts as much as you can. I don't like the 3 year option.

Would 6 years at $3.75M be fair? If it's 4 years, I'd try to get it down to around $3M. He doesn't have much pedigree as Dach had.

And? Why is a 5'10 2nd line winger worth giving up valuable assets for?

Zuccarello, Perron, Zucker, Johansson were all cheap FA.
FLA had to pay Vegas to take Marchessault. Ditto McCann from the Leafs/Pens. Eberle let go for free also (who the hell did NYI even protect up front?).
Vegas had to pay us to take Tatar and Dadonov, they were negative assets.
Granlund, Rakell, Arvidsson and Burakovsky cost a late 2nd. Bjorkstrand even less.

You could throw a rock in the free agent pool every offseason and accidentally hit one of these guys. The supply is way way way more than the demand. Why trade essentially two late firsts for this type of player?

Vancouver is willing to pay teams to take Garland off their hands right now. What does Newhook do better?

Newhook needs to become a 70+ point player for this trade to not be a total waste.
70+ point is a bit much (no one on the roster has proven to be able to hit that yet) but I think cheap 50-60 points while being responsible defensively/good complementary player would be okay.

Other contracts needing extension in 2 years:
Slafkovsky, Guhle, RHP, and possibly Harris, Farrell, Heineman, Dobes

Other contracts needing extension in 3 years:
Matheson, Dach, Mailloux

Other contracts needing extension in 4 years:
Probably Hutson, Beck and Reinbacher; possibly guys bridged for 2 years in 2 years; longshot Anderson

I agree Newhook gets less than Dach. Dach gets premium for size, draft rank/pedigree and position.

Last time we won the cup? Our team was loaded with players like that.

Most teams are. I want to say no team with a player who has scored more than 100 points has won the cup in the like a decade or something. Cap era means one must spread out the offense and play strong team defense.

I predicted it! Number 15! Why? 'Cause that was his number for Team Canada.

Man I miss those teams. Work your ass off type players that would block a shot with their face to win, while also contributing offensively.

Oh don't think this organization is anywhere near a cup LOL.
We aren’t “loaded” yet… I never suggested that we were in contention. What the hell is going on with this forum? Seriously!
