We only have so many spots in the top 9 for 5'10 and under players.

He was measured in 2019 at the combine as 5'10.5 and 192 lbs....basically an inch short of Ryan Leonard's size who has everyone here referring to him as a power forward lol.

He should be listed at 5'11 as you are supposed to round up, size just really isn't an issue in his case as he is a tank.

It's ok guys, the AVS drafting outside the top 10 is worst than us. At least we have a young player that can play at the NHL. Anything the AVS draft with those picks won't add up to anything.

Could be a Gurianov resurgence type. I'd rather get young prospects who have played in the NHL than a bunch of low draft picks that won't play ever.

There's gotta be some forward moves lined up.

Slaf Suzuki Caufield
Monahan Dach Newhook
Gallagher Dvorak Anderson
Hoffman Evans Armia
Pezzetta Pitlick RHP
Ylonen

They also talked about bringing Gurianov back. That's 16 players and only Slaf can be sent down which we know they are unlikely to do.

You also have too many bodies on defense

If only that 3rd and 4th line can magically disappear...

Gallager ain't going anywhere, we all know that. We're stuck with him, hopefully he finds some semblance of the Gallagher of old. Anderson is still very much a keeper for me.

I totally agree with the rest, ship them to Siberia, I wouldn't care. They're the definition of fodder. sans Evans who isn't entirely unlikeable.

Capt Hook was alot cheaper then a Keller, yes Keller is better, but the cost
We could not afford a Keller, who are you kidding? All that selling and tanking and we could barely afford a Newhook.

It’s like the Canadiens have perpetually bad credit and can’t get a mortgage so they never upgrade the living situation and have to keep renting.

Vegas somehow manages to wheel and deal its way to perpetual strengths, meanwhile our poverty franchise has like five assets it cannot afford to lose and two dozen other assets and prospects nobody wants.

RHP can be sent down.

But it's time for Hoffman and Armia to be in the stands or Laval. Pitlick to Laval. And those 3 moves solve the problem.

But yeah, I think there will be more moves.

Marc Bergevin: Centers are hard to trade for. You have to get the via the draft (proceeds to pick Galchenyuk and KK).

Kent Hughes: Centers acquired via trade: Dach, Monahan & Newhook.

Although to be fair to MB, he did acquire our best center via trade in Suzuki.

Newhook is what we believe Beck will be... I dont see the reason why you trade two good picks for a player like that. 5'10, not physical. At best 2nd liner. But do you want him as your 2C and Suzuki your first to win a cup? Absolutely not. So he will be our what? 3rd center? But why?
He’s a much better skater than Beck. And I like Beck. Our 3 on 3 game just got much better.

Since 2010 the best player picked at # 31 is Tyler Pitlick so i think its a good gamble to go for Newhook.

Trade Alert.
Montreal trades #5 pick to Philly for the #7 pick and #22

#5 Philly picks Mitchov.
(For every Habs fan screaming no!!!....Nail Yakapov says hello!)
He maybe a great talent but you never know folks.

#7 Montreal take Lenord.
#22 Montreal takes Harbal/Wood/Perreault...we should have a decent choice.

So you add Newhook, Lenord and another good young kid.

Not bad!

I'd go Leonard and best D available. Gulyayev or Simashev? Then target best goalie available at 69. Could still be Bjarnason or Hrabal or Augustine

I said that before the Dubois trade was announced, it wasn't impossible given the trade didn't happen at the draft, it looked like a preparation for something bigger. Case in point, the Kings sent Vilardi the other way who is Newhook, hopefully, in a few years.
I said the same thing over the phone to my buddy

This whole size issue of Newhook is so overblown. People talk like he's Caufield or Farrell sized even though the kid is built strong.

His coach at BC College was on with Marinaro yesterday and said Newhhook is strong like an ox. Hughes said the same thing.
