The team needs offensive talent in 21-25 age group. Outside Caufield, Dach, Suzuki, there isn't much right now. The habs need to take some gambles here. This seems like a very steep price for a small, 30 point forward.
I guess the trade might make sense in a context where done other vets are going.
Edmundson?Really like Newhook, habs weren't getting a good player at #31 anyway. However def need to pick up some 2nd round picks in trades here.
I’m at a loss about this move in terms of optimizing asset mix.
Is Newhook still a center or has he been principally used as a winger on the Avs?
Well that takes care of the too many picks argument for this draft:
Yeah, nothing against Newhook. He’s not lost his talent. He can be useful in the NHL.
I wanted them to target a young RD instead with those assets.Really like Newhook, habs weren't getting a good player at #31 anyway. However def need to pick up some 2nd round picks in trades here.
At first glance it's a pretty awful trade.
No goal in his last 24 playoffs games.
Awful faceoff stats
If they plan to use him as a left winger does this mean they won't even sign RHP ?
If they plan to use him as a center, I would guess that one of Dvorak or Evans will be traded and we'll suck even more in the faceoff department.
He's a decent skater though so there's that.
We’re probably saying no to Michkov and trading that too. Lol2023 all comes down to 5OV.
Newhook is what you were hoping to get with that late first.
Hughes is not done, he's trading down if Smith is not available and we are picking twice in the 1st round.
