I'm expecting a DeSmith trade. So everytime someone replies in this thread and puts the "Confirmed with Link" prefix at the top of the page, I get fooled.

Imagine being slightly dyslexic, bruv.

"Confirmed with link : Emil Heineman: 4 years, 2.9 mill per"

Every single time.

RHP exceeded expectations, Newhook is another project.
RHP is also 2 years older. First off I like RHP however my point is there’s lots of negative or perhaps pessimistic views regarding Newhook and yet he’s played 159 gms & won a cup….RHP 38 gms? I don’t know if people don’t like the Newhook trade therefore don’t like him???
Seems odd is all.

Nearly every year there's a "young" underdog that overachieves over a small sample and people think he's the next gem.

This year it's RHP. We've also seen Matt D'Agostini, Jiri Sekac, Nic Deslauriers, Victor Meter, etc.

Like someone mentionned, probably because we never saw Newhook play. Also recency bias of RHP who exceeded expectations last year I’d say and a similar player from my own understanding.

Man all these threads have me thinking it’ll be a shark eat shark situation for a few spots soon and habs may start trading a few players we actually like In a few years!

Imagine we end up trading away or waiving one of them only to watch him become the next MSL... Leaving us with an Oleg Saprykin or Daniel Tkachuk whom we kept instead

I get your point, but all those examples weren't as productive over as short a span, making RHP's mark, last year more significant from a PPG perspective, onto of more significant from a total point perspective.

he didn't surpass the 33 pt plateau because Colorado has no size, offense, defense ... coaching or much talent out there. He will shine here in this city instead, its way better here. Now that he's away from those scrubs like MacKinnon, Rantanen, Makar, Compher etc, he will see real talent like Gallagher, Armia, Dvorak, Evans and others.

Compher is CRAP. He does not belong with the othere mentioned. And it is completely irrelevant who is on the Avs when he rarely got to play on their line. He won't play with shit on the Habs though. He will be on a scoring line.

possibly, but when we have a player with 52 pts we put them on a pedestal as well.

Obviously Compher does not belong with names like Makar and Rantanen but calling him "crap" does not belong in a rational discussion either.

Playing here right now is a good way to find out whose real and not real. We’ve had far too many passengers on this team over the years. It would nice to see somebody who makes the players around him better instead of having to be carried.

RHP is a 7th round pick, Newhook 1st round, lol.

I wonder why (on talent alone) Newhook doesn’t get any of the RHP love that’s so obvious around here?
Because Newhook had high expectations given where he was drafted and hasn't quite lived up to it so far.

RHP no one ever expected anything, so easy to be impressed.

Newhook is NOT a project. What he has accomplished thus far on a Championship Team is laudable. He obviously paid attention to detail or he wouldn't have gotten the ice time that he did. He brings potential on the upside and a firmly established cellar. He will be better than the third liners we've been used to and has the potential to be a top six guy. How is that a project?

So Newhook is a guaranteed success? Getting a little tired of the "he's still young", needs the right opportunity, etc. I hope he is all you hope he is, but complaining that a 7th round pick is getting all the attention is silly, imo.

You named Avs best players and Habs worst players.

How do you want people to put it? He is in fact very young, only 2 seasons in the league, produced around 30-35 points averaging 12 minutes of ice-time. He’s certainly not doing bad. How is it tiring?

Newhook, a former 1st round pick produced at around .40 PPG on a Stanley Cup Champion team after being given every chance to play a prominent role on the team.

RHP, a former 7th round pick produced at around .60 PPG on a bottom 5 team while playing like a man possessed every shift he was on the ice and constantly made things happen.

Tricky as to why fans give RHP more "love" than Newhook... :sarcasm:
