Adidas Bruins uniforms

I just took a look at the article that "Smithformeragent" posted. I didn't really want to take a strong stand one way or the other with an opinion unless I had one. But now I can say that I don't like the changes done tot he B's uniform at all. Actually the names/numbers on the back are probably easier to read (not sure).
Question is this, why does Montreal pretty much keep their traditional design but the Bruins just roll over and allow all of these changes? I do HATE the socks of the new design. They wanted to match the arms but they now look unbalanced to me. Also, more black makes the legs look thinner and less substantial IMO. Sake for the sake of change is needless but then again maybe JJ can sell a few more jerseys so all is good!?!?;)

If you look at the history of the league, the majority of the original 6 have left their uniforms alone while Boston and Toronto have been more liberal with the alterations.

I don't think the 07-17 uniforms were the best they'd ever looked, but this is a classic example of fixing what wasn't broken.

The new unies are fine. Different numbers and letters but still the same. Like the black socks. They look faster in them. Minor changes compared to some.

Anyone bought one of these new jerseys from the Pro Shop yet and able to share some pictures? I just received the jersey I ordered from the Pro Shop website and the quality leaves a bit to be desired.

No, and I don't plan on it.

I've heard that the crest on the replicas is very thin compared to the Reebok jerseys.

The qualify of the replicas was so high when CCM/Koho did them. The Reebok ones were trash in comparison and it sounds as if Adidas has gone even cheaper in the quality department.

Send me a PM at @Fenway - Here is where it gets nuts - The retail store at North Station and the online store also at North Station are totally separate operations. I have a strong connection to the retail store as several board members know and if there is a way to fix this it will get done.

100% accurate post. Fenway helped me when I had an issue with something I bought. It was resolved quicker than it would have been had I gone the traditional route

Agreed about CCM. I had mixed results with Reebok. I have a couple from the Pro Shop that are fantastic quality and a couple that are junk. I wasn't sure what to expect from Adidas but my brother picked up a jersey from the Rangers' team store at MSG and the quality is great, so I had high hopes.

Still hate the black socks.

Love the changes to the number outlines on both home and away.

I'm with you on the socks. The gold socks made the whole thing stand out.

With the numbers, they just look weird. On the home jerseys there's too much white in them. And not having the gold/black/white lettering and numbers looks off when you look at the crest, which has all three layers. Just looks a little amateur to me

I'll admit, I've already gotten used to the black socks. It hit me when I was playing EA NHL and played one game with current, and then the next with last year's uniform and last year's actually seemed weird.

It's not that it looks bad, it's just not what has been a small part of the Bruins identity for pretty much ever.

Still miss the black pine line around the letters/numbers. They really popped with that but oh well. Hoping they revert back to the gold socks next season.

So, the tie up collar makes even less sense now than it did with the Reebok jerseys.

They have a V neck collar AND a tie.

And the Bruins have one of the better looking collars in the league at this point.

I just feel like the gold (yellow) is too vibrant

I’ve been searching, and is it impossible to purchase an “authentic” customized Adidas away jersey? (I know you can’t purchase the actual on ice authentics made in Canada)

Seems absurd in today’s day and age.

Adidas will not renew its NHL uniform deal. Icethetics produced a video on where the uniforms have been, where they are, and where they could go. The latter is all speculation, which he admits, but is interesting for those of us who are uniform nerds.
