How concerned is anyone in here about his size and strength? He and DeAngelo are very similarly sized but DeAngelo definitely likes to play a rougher game.

LOL that sucks? We arent drafting a potential top pair rightly defenseman with those 2 picks. This was a SLAM DUNK trade.
The conditional part sucks yes not the trade as a whole. From what I hear next years draft is a good one and if we are in the bottom 10 again that pick could be 35ish. And those early second rounder can surely be used to trade up and grab a top defensive prospect. Again i'm not hating the trade just would have preferred a 2nd and 3rd at most not two picks around 35ish

David Quinn when he realizes Gorton is pushing to win sooner rather than later and Staal, Smith, and Shattenkirk are still signed for 2 more years at $16M

Really like the move because we have so many picks anyway. Fox gets here a year earlier and you now have Fox and ADA as your potential top 4 RHD for the future. Not sure this lines us up for a Trouba trade, but I really think Shattenkirk is going to be shopped and shipped out sometime soon.

We potentially have two other 2nd rounders (Dallas and Tampa) and if Dallas wins the series, we have 3 1sts.

If we really want to trade down to the early 2nd, you can easily take the Dallas 1st (with 3 more wins) and move down and get more picks. Or package picks and move up.

Also, we have Vesey, Namestnikov, Fast and Strome who can be dealt and I'm pretty sure a team might be willing to look at those players for a 2nd or as ammo to move up into the early 2nd.

We have so many prospects. We need top end prospects. Our pool looks good, but we're now adding elite talent into it. Fox, Miller, Kravtsov, Kakko/Hughes, and Igor are top 50 NHL prospects. We have 5 of them. Nils, Libor, Rykov, Tarmo, Barron, WPG 1st have the chance to move into the top 50. All won't make it, but we have assets to move at some point. On top of our young players here now.

It's not unforeseen to see the roster flip that is about to happen with these young players and the ability to go out and make trades for established, young NHL talent that teams cannot sign. It's beginning to come together. The Fox signing is the tip of the iceberg. The next 7 weeks will be trade rumors leading into the draft.

That weekend is set to be the turning point for the rebuild. That's when the future will meet the present.

I'm actually okay not picking in the second if it means essentially using our picks (in one form or another) and coming away with Kakko, Fox and someone like Zegras.
I hate the idea of trading two 2nds for him if Carolina had no leverage at all. I also have my doubts about him being top pairing material.

Do I like the idea of having him in the pool? Absolutely. Do I love the possibilities of trading two second rounders in the next two drafts that are looking very, very deep? Not at all.

I get the idea/desire to "wait a year and just sign him" but getting him now does two things:

1) The Rangers can decide where he should play next year that's best for his develop. That control has value.

2) It gets him in the organization before the draft—so there's a clearer picture as to what they have in-house.

This board always pisses all over itself whenever these great NCAA players come to us. They always vastly under perform compared to expectations

This board always pisses all over itself whenever these supposed great Dmen come to us. They always vastly under perform compared to expectations. Doubly so if they're offensive defenseman

I'll believe we actually won this trade when I see him being a good dman for us.

Does that mean you're going to be bitter about this trade now until he has 2-3 NHL years experience and is playing well?
