Gardner McKay
RIP, Jimmy.
I don't think so.Too much. Glad to have him in the fold though.
It is worth the price to have him in our system, developing the way WE want. I'd have preferred Tampa's pick but meh. I think it is a pretty fair deal.

oh good to hear on rykov. I personally love this kid. I think he's a stud. he may force his way onto the roster.
I have had fox penciled in for a while. but I cant see both shattenkirk/pionk returning I think one is gone.
Skjei
DeAngelo
Staal
Fox
Hajek
Smith
one of Shattenkirk/Pionk
Rykov
that's 8 Dmen however Smith can and probably will be considered a 8th D/12 or 13 forward so I can see rykov being with the big club.
Ideally. I'd love for both shattenkirk and pionk to be moved so we can bring in Myers or trouba
Ranger fanNot that it means much but Is he a Rangers or Islander fan? He's a Jericho, Long island guy isn't he?

I’ve been posting since January that Smith would be bought out this summer (in the likely event that he is not traded) That's not speculation on my part. I’ll leave it at that.Rangers get a top prospect for a 2nd and 3rd (or a 2nd)...I don't see what the issue is? Is it because we could have waited and gotten him later for nothing? Or because he was taken in the 3rd round instead of the 1st round? Price seems fair all considering. This teams prospect list is sick.
I'm in COMPLETE agreement that quality is absolutely vital now. I realize depth is always a need. But I really want to add elite / border elite to this group. I am completely ready to deal who / what we need to, in order to do this.I think it bears repeating:
If the Rangers are aggressive in this draft, it will come with a significant cost, it will likely result in fewer picks, and it will assume a degree of risk.
How high the cost, and how many picks it requires, is unknown at this time. A lot will depend on final positions.
For example 18 and 28 might get you 14. Likewise, getting to 12 might require 18, 28 and 58. So you have to be prepared for that possibility. And that is only an option if several scenarios fall into place over the next week.
The alternative is moving a known quantity in Kreider, and then potentially having to use a pick (or picks) to move up again.
Hell ****ing yea!!!!
Top pair potential dman. I'll GLALDY give them our 2nd round pick for that, that pick would be VERY unlikely to turn into a player that Fox can be.
After Kakko will be sitting nicely having the #1 prospect pool in the league.
This board always pisses all over itself whenever these great NCAA players come to us. They always vastly under perform compared to expectations
This board always pisses all over itself whenever these supposed great Dmen come to us. They always vastly under perform compared to expectations. Doubly so if they're offensive defenseman
I'll believe we actually won this trade when I see him being a good dman for us.
Harvard listed Fox as 5'10" 185. The Rangers list him as 5'11" 195. For anyone curious.
Because when you look at how often a player signs an offer sheet, you realize it was nothing more than a remote possibility at best. How is it not?
Stepan, McD, KreiderHell no. I'm not even bitter about Matt Gilroy, Kevin Hayes, Tim Erixon, Jimmy Vesey, keith yandle and Kevin Shattenkirk. I'm just not buying the hype because this place does not know how to evaluate these NCAA kids or offensive Dmen.
Hayes is the only one who at least roughly matched expectation...although it wasn't until the last year or two that he did
Something's gotta give on defense. 4 RHD isn't going to work. Hopefully Pionk is the odd man but I think it's more likely that we see Shattenkirk go.

What this DOES do is take a way a possible valuable chip to help the Rangers move up in the first round. That #37 overall pick has some value
Rangers waiting until he becomes UFA would be taking a big risk. Not only that, but signing him this summer vs this summer makes 0 difference in terms of ELC control, as his standard ELC would be 2 years next off season anyways. Gorton has tons of draft capital to work with, and by moving this year's 2nd (and next year's 3rd, possibly 2nd) he skips 3 seasons of development. With that in mind, much more worth it to ensure he comes here AND is developing in our system. This is what I would call "accelerating a rebuild", if only just a bit.
Grew up on Long Island but he grew up a Rangers fan.
Bingo. Plus, this is the type of move that all of El Jeffe's asset acquiring over the last 2 years allows us to do without it really impacting us all that much. We'll still have at least 2 1sts and 2 2nds after moving this pick and we add a kid who is a stud.I don't think so.
