I mean it probably won't work out like that but it's fun to dream. I actually think Skjei might get moved in a few years and it'd be more like Miller, Hajek, Rykov down the left if we're assuming it all works out magically

odds are all these guys won't pan out which is why its so great to have all this depth and why i chuckle when i see people complaining that we have too many guys considering what the depth chart looked like before the stepan trade...hopefully we've got at least 4 future guys in the mix, anything more would be a bonus. then you can round things out via trades and free agency if needed.

well here's the other part. we either get another first rounder which would be 3 in the first to get your bpas or we get a 2nd. that 2nd along with the tampa second is plenty to move up in the 2nd round if there is a guy they really want. and for the most part the 2nd round is more who does each team really have left on their draft board as bpa.

so gorts must have felt not really a burden to lose a couple 2nds with all the picks he's got coming.

So they sign Fox, they trade him for top ten 2019 1st, the conditional 3rd never goes to 2nd as he never plays for the Rangers?

Rangers turn a 2nd and 3rd into a top 10 2019 pick.

I mean I'm kidding and all but...

Anyone who says Fox is only an offensive D is either salty or hasn’t watched him. Fox has always been good defensively. Not amazing but he is good. Slows the play down as well and is very calm on the ice, always noticeable and the play always runs through him. He doesn’t have dynamic skills though aside from his great shot. Could be either Ryan Murphy or Shattenkirk with better D

Those picks may be restocked as quickly as this draft.

Kreider,Vesey,Shatty,Pionk - Those are all guys who can be moved.

Yup, though it at least seems to be exciting that they're all showing more than just some flash or shininess of new prospects. Miller stepped into the NCAA as a raw prospect and did excellent, establishing himself as a top D in his freshman year. Hajek stepped into the NHL and played a solid and reliable game, albeit for far too short a time. Rykov got a chance for more minutes and responsibility in a pro league and ran with it, proving that his projected abilities were more than just projection.

They might not all reach their potential but I have a good feeling about a lot of these guys pushing for lineup spots sometime soon.

just eyeballing a few years, the 2nd round seems to have a 1 in 5 chance in producing a middle sixer or better

yeah ill trade a few of those for Adam Fox

I know people are drooling over the different combinations possible with 5 picks in the the top 58. But I would not be the least bit surprised if, after the dust settles, the Rangers essentially come away with 3 assets. Granted it would be 3 assets they are particularly high on, but 3 assets nonetheless - Kakko, TBD first rounder, and Fox.

And ultimately I'd be pretty OK with that. The Rangers have had a few years to restock and aren't desperate for any prospect they can get right now...they need quality. Getting a chance to draft Kakko and hope he can become a top player is huge, and if they can come away with a high scoring defenseman with Fox and another asset with blue chip upside out of this draft it's just a grand slam all the way around.

And if they hit on guys like Kravtsov, Miller, and Lundkvist then that will be huge going forward.

Adam Fox was born, learned to play hockey, attended Harvard and got traded to the Rangers... all since the Panthers last won a playoff series.

I feel bad. Poor guy had to watch what was practically his team go to the SCF in their first year of existence while they missed the playoffs again.

This scenario is quite plausible:

Fox says he wants to play in the NHL next season, preferably for the Rangers.

Gets permission to speak with the Rangers who say they’d like to hold off a year for the free asset.

Fox says that if they wait, he will request a trade elsewhere and sign now.

Deal reached.

If that was in the realm of how this went down, this is a great deal.

Regardless, it’s a very good deal.

so we're adding kakko kravtsov shesterkin and Fox in one off season? that's a hell of an influx of young talent.

and maybe Rykov

They'll still probably be bad next year unless they mix up the roster some more and make some FA signings that pan out but in the next few years it may be looking real nice

I don't expect keane to make much of an impact at the nhl level yet rykov might I love the kid but haven't seen anything saying he's coming just yet.

Kinda agree on Keane, we'll see. At the very least I feel like he's got a few years of development ahead of him.

Carpiniello says they're working on a deal for Rykov:

It is. Losing flexibility is never a good thing.
This isn't flexibility. It was never going to happen. If it was a realistic option then the deal wouldn't have been made. This isn't rocket science. RFA offer sheets are not common enough to even consider them as realistic options
