Must say been pleasantly impressed by Mancini. the last couple years have had a lot of late bloomer big college D guys (Kesselring, Vlasic, LaCombe) not surprised management was interested in this sort of player (the big catch would’ve been Fortescue, one of the best shutdown dman in college).

small dman from college just isn’t the move.

My kids asked for some but my dad already made popcorn on his home machine* yesterday so I had a ready made excuse to say “no”.

*My dad has one of this big red stand up machines with wheels. Got it for my mom as a Christmas present but it’s really for himself

You made the right call. Ice cold and overly salty. It essentially tasted like it was made yesterday.

Was that really Klimovich wearing #18 out there tonight or did prime Rick Nash steal his jersey? A force every shift and was even out there near the end defending the 6 on 5 with the goalie pulled.
So random because every other game he looks totally invisible. Now up to 15 goals which is surprising.

The Bains-Sasson-Lekkerimaki line was dominant.
Bains and Sasson are a poor fit stylistically. Bains has above average speed without the puck, but is really slow with the puck on his stick. Can't beat defenders wide and has to pull up in the o-zone and circle back, which wastes all the rush chances that Sasson's speed generates. Lekk has the speed to keep up though.

I'm not really a Mancini fan so far. Good physical traits but gives me Luca Sbisa vibes in the d-zone. I haven't seen him that much yet to be fair.

Game wasn't as close as the score indicated. Colorado didn't have much (although Silovs got lucky with a 2 on 1 crossbar near the end), Canucks just couldn't put away their multitude of chances.

Form the sounds of things, a rather lackluster game. Maybe the Family Day start at 2 p.m. had something to do with it.

A raft of players out of the Canucks lineup today.....no Karlsson, Raty, D-Petey, Di Giuseppe, Smith, Brisebois and Hirose. Makes me wonder if there's some kind of lineup shuffle brewing up-top when Vancouver comes out of the Four Nations break? Assuming that with no NHL games played, the GM's have had time on their hands to ramp up trade talks.

Silovs voted the first star--and deservedly so. Klimovich continues to be maddingly inconsistent. If he plays like he did this afternoon, he becomes a more than viable prospect for the big club. But then he's simply disappear for a couple of games.

I noticed that some were less than bullish on Mancinci's game. But this might have been his best game with the AHL Canucks so far. At least he showed a lot more puck-carrying ability and tried to generate some offense.

Canucks pretty much dominated most of the game but lacked finish. Lots of prime chances that just went wide.

Jett Woo was HOT after the whistle. Was having a very intense shoutfest with Tynan. Not sure what was said or done to get Woo so angry.

Maybe he asked him Woo are you?

From your perspective how was mcward and bains

McWard, as always, was invisible until the third where he had a nice forecheck. He’s just a steady guy where nothing pops.

Bains is an elite playmaker at this level. Still lacks separation speed but it’s not an issue here. Pretty much any time he was on the ice, the puck was in the offensive zone.

I’ll also throw in Klimovich and Woo reviews; our two 2nd round AHLers.

Every game I see live, Klimovich scores. He had a really strong 1st & 2nd but was less impactful as the game went on. He makes a lot of silly plays and has serious tunnel vision when entering the offensive zone. I just don’t see an NHL player but he might be of use to a team like the Blackhawks.

I’m biased with Woo; he’s my daughter’s favourite player. His dad was in Goon! He’s a stud in the AHL. A two way force that plays mean and is assertive with everything he does. The downside is he’s not big enough, fast enough, or enough offensive skills. He had three glorious chances today, including a breakaway, but missed the net on all of them (he got caught on the breakaway). Still, I’d love for him to stick around as organizational depth.

So who are the players who actually have a shot to be full time NHL’ers?

Lekk, EP and Mancini?

Bains, PDG, Aman and Karlsson are tweeners for the time being.

Willander too. Kudryavtsev is tracking very well. If you can get 4 NHLers, with 3 defencemen, out of your farm system, that’s really damn good.

Sasson looks like a capable 4th line guys. Mueller is following behind him. Raty is slowly profiling as a good bottom-6 option as well.

I always have a soft spot in my heart for true hockey journeyman who grind it out, year after year.

Jayson Megna is currently the captain of the Colorado Eagles. Yes, the same Jayson Megna that Willie D used to throw out over the boards for what seemed like every second shift for the Vancouver Canucks in that lackluster 2016-17 season.

Now 35 years old, his career resume looks like a Google map of minor league cities. Starting in Wilkes Barrie, where he broke in as a pro in the 2012-13 season; he made AHL stops in Hartford, Utica (two different seasons); Providence (twice) and Hershey.

Since 2019-20 he spent most of his time bouncing back and forth between the AHL Colorado Eagles and the NHL Avalanche. But was picked up on waivers and played 41 games with the Anaheim Ducks in 2022-23. Then it was back to Boston Bruins organization and Providence in 2023-24. Then he came back West to the Colorado Eagles this season.

Astonishingly he's played a total of 191 NHL games with stops in Pittsburgh (twice) Boston (twice); Vancouver (twice); Colorado Avalanche (parts of four seasons); and Anaheim for half a season. He played one game in Boston in the 2023-24 season, his last official game in the NHL.

If hockey ever hands out a 'Reggie Dunlop" award for a nomadic hockey journey around NA, then surely Megna is the runaway winner. He's one former Canucks who has carved out a remarkable career on his own terms.

Yes, Sasson and Raty. Forgot all about them, thank you.

Ill have to read up on Kudryavtsev. Don't know anything about him. Much appreciated.
