not surprising, most underrated player in the org.
Aside from that ridiculously low ranking by Wheeler, I think most people at this point are aware that Kudryavtsev is a decent prospect.

Blais shaken up but he’s been really good. Hopefully he gets a contract soon, would be a great energy guy for the big club. With the way he’s playing he probably doesn’t leave the line up if he gets in.

Not really seeing it myself. Has size and decent hands but slow, doesn't PK, is behind Di Giuseppe and Bains on the depth chart.

A nice article on Lekkerimaki:

Wow! The fourth highest goals per game total in the AHL for a 20 year-old in the last 20 years. Just think where he'd be if he hadn't spent 11 games basically playing eight minutes a night in Vancouver?

Looking at that list of 20-year-olds who have torched the AHL, I'd settle for Connor, Palmieri, Norris, Tyfoli or even more recent kids like Stankoven and Jason Robertson, all day long. Canucks should be treating this kid as 'untouchable' until they at least figure out what they have.

But it really underscores how impressive the seasons have been in Abbotsford for D-Petey and Kudryavtsev, at basically the same age. It's far tougher to transition into the AHL as a 20-year old blueliner, than it is for a scoring winger like Lekkerimaki.

Agree here, I don't see anything from Blais beyond the AHL level. He's a decent player there but he doesn't jump off the page like Aman/Bains/Karlsson/Raty/Lekkerimaki/Sasson.
And it's not like he's a Tom Wilson physical menace out there either. Slow like you said. Can body people off the puck sometimes but that's about it.

I made a comment earlier in the year that PDG >> Blais on an NHL 4th line but then PDG also strangely looks worse then Blais in the AHL. 🤷‍♂️

Blais is coming off a couple of serious 'lower body injuries' specifically his knees. I'm not sure he has the speed he once had.

As far as PDG is concerned, it doesn't really surprise me he hasn't done much since his return to Abbotsford. In many respects for fourth line wingers, it's actually easier to play in the NHL than it is in the AHL.

You're basically only playing 8-10 minutes a night, and if you're a decent skater like PDG, all you need to do is go up and down your wing and win some puck battles along the wall, and then get off.

The AHL is a lot more of a scramble. More players are out of position, and there are turnovers aplenty.

Romani followed up his two-goal outing with a goal and two assists in a 6-4 Barrie loss tonight.

Patterson was not in the line-up, so he probably joins Alriksson and Alcos on the list of currently injured Canucks prospects.

Abby is underway in San Diego. It's scoreless in the first.

Young is in net, backed up by Lemieux—so both ECHL goalies were called up.

On D:
Wolanin / Woo
Kudryavtsev / Mancini
Arnsten / McWard

... and I just noticed that Lekkerimaki is not in the line-up. Did I miss a call-up?

Josh Bloom is playing.

What the F!! Boeser traded, Lekk to take his spot. I wonder what we got for Boeser? Late 1st rounder and a B prospect I suspect. Or Lekk traded with Boeser for an elite C. Sweet!!

Holy Mancini can skate, nice stride. He seems to be a bit "low hockey IQ" though.
That's what I see most people say about him but that's why he was a 5th rounder, maybe with more minutes and reps down in the A he can gain more experience and level up.

It's 3-1 San Diego early in the third. Young has faced 17 shots.

Abby's goal: Blais from Kudryavtsev and Mueler.

(I'm not watching the game, just irregularly noting the data points.)

Now 3-2, Ben Berard scoring for Abby.

This Abby squad is a skeleton crew for this game.....ECHL callups, including Young in goal. And no Raty, Bains, Lekkerimaki, Pettersson, etc. etc.

What gives? Are all these players back in Vancouver? Are some of them travelling to Vegas? Has to be some kind of deal brewing.

Just needs to keep it simple. Dman like him with his size and skating ability usually project well.

with Forbort likely gone after this year and Soucy hopefully traded in the off season (juulsen prob doesn’t get resigned lmfao), Mancini should comfortably hold a 6/7D spot next year.

i wonder if he can turn into a Kovacevic type.

Also Luneau is going to be a top 3 dman one day. so goood

Raty, Bains and Petey jr got called up.

Lankinen is still travelling home.

Demko is hurt.

That explains the 2 goalie call ups.

Not sure on Lekkerimaki though.
