2:00 remaining in the first, Abby takes a 1-0. Slick backhand feed from newcomer Twarynski to Wouters all alone at the front of net, he puts it home. Pretty good play at the blue line by Kudryavtsev to get the puck to Twarynski for the second assist.

Barely finished typing that paragraph and it's 2-0. Brannstrom went in deep, circled behind the net, threw the puck in front and it went in off of Blais' skate. Wouters got the second assist but kudos to Klimovich for some good work that led to the scoring sequence.

Nice to see them jump out to a 2-0 lead. First pro point for Kudryatsev, too.

Also noticed Wolanin not playing. Bummer. Feel like one of him or Brannstrom might be a good fit on the third pair right about now.

I'm confused, i picked him in my keepers league because he had a great showing in preseason, no where does it say he was sent back to the AHL and he hasn't played in the NHL nor is playing in the AHL tonight...

Smith chips the puck to Klimovich, he breaks in all alone and buries a wrist shot low to the glove side. 3-0 Abby, 15:00 left in the 2nd period.

Something to keep in mind is it's going to be a looooot easier playing the Wranglers now that Wolf has been finally promoted to Calgary. It seems like for the most part Abbotsford was the better team in their matchups in the past but Wolf was always coming up big. On top of that some of Calgary's young talent were also promoted.

Sammy Blais voted the second star of the Abby Canucks opener with a goal and an assist.

He's still a guy who might be able to help the parent Canucks down the road. If he can regain some of the speed he's lost he's still an NHL forward with third or fourth line potential.

Problem is, he's on an AHL contract. So Vancouver would have to move some money around to accommodate him under the salary cap.

Abby are underway this afternoon in Calgary, down 1-0 early in the first. The back-end looks the same (still going with 7 D, still no Wolanin).

Lekkerimaki, again, is not dressed.

Patera has the net.

2-1 Abby early in the second.

Hey @WTG, any observations about the young D—Pettersson and Kudryavtsev? And Brannstrom, for that matter? Or, hell, Woo? McWard?

D! I want a report on the D!

So far, it's been the Brännström show. Kudryavtsev looks confident, he's made some good offensive reads of when to engage in the offensive zone. Pettersson has been pretty static so far, although he hasn't received that much icetime.

I think that the Canucks should pull the trigger and trade away a defenseman to make sure that the icetime gets a bit more evenly distributed.

I don't know how Klimovich only managed to get 4 points in the AHL last season. I didn't watch the AHL or pay attention at all but he looks more than servicable.

I only tunned in for the 2nd so far, so I couldn't tell you about the 1st period.
