I'd like to sign Mangiapane in the offseason. He's an excellent forechecker, strong defensively, a natural goalscorer, and has always been very productive 5on5.

I've always been a fan of Mangiapane. He's low key one of the best defensive wingers in the game. He's an excellent possession player too. That said, a natural goal scorer he is not. It's a toss up between him and Backlund on who was the guy who generates the most without scoring.

Rakell would be perfect for him, has term as well. If the Penguins are out Sens should make a serious play for him.

Mangiapane would work better with guys like Greig and Amadio than Stutzle

They'd be great as 2 very high-end skill guys but they're 2 premium playmakers, need a finisher.

Problem for Ottawa is both lines (Norris and Stutzle) need to have Tkachuk and Batherson. Giroux is a legend but he turns 37 y/o in 2 weeks. Perron is also getting older and injured anyway. They miss a clear top-6 forward that would balance the top 2 lines

And that hole was created by Dorion with the DeBrincat acquisition. Staios did all he could to fix that situation (and the Korpisalo contract at the same time) but it's Linus Ullmark they ended up with in the end, not a forward.
