I don't care that she's a woman, she is inexperienced and lacks energy to be good right now, but that doesn't mean she can't improve. Of course, NHL is male hockey, and 99.99% of commentators before her have been men, so she will be judged by the fact that she is a woman. It can't be easy trying to break into such a male dominated area, so for that reason she has my sympathy. However a lot of the criticism in this thread is valid, we can't give her a free pass because that's not fair either. Mediocrity can't be ignored and shouldn't be dismissed as sexism. Some people are not cut out for commentating, I would be terrible at it and have just as much hate as her if not more.
Some people will unfortunately be sexist, but that should not be an excuse to accept terrible casting. No need to rush a hire for the sake of diversity. It's like putting a 16 year old on a first line in the NHL, they wouldn't be ready and nobody would expect them to perform well. Have her cast games in some lower level leagues for a few seasons and go from there.
