no, I don't see him as he is struggling. Over a 20 year career, Carlsson will have a much better career imo. Not everything is points. Bedard will probably have more points than both of them, I concede on that and that's great for him. But when did the red wings start winning championships? The same time Yzerman went from 150 point seasons to 80 point seasons for the team (exaggeration for effect).
Anaheim gm even said that they are limiting carlsson's role the first part of this year and he is still averaging the most for a center on their team. If he is being limited, imagine when he isn't? His passing is better than bedard. His IQ seems to be relatively the same if not better (overall, not just goals, but actually seeing the ice on defense as much as offense).
I will make it more clear, Bedard will probably have 3-500 more points than Carlsson over his career, but carlsson is going to have the selke, carlsson is going to have the hart, carlsson is going to have more cups (maybe like 1 more, but that is still more). IF they stay the same prodcution and whatever, they'll both be HOFers, but after 20 years, I think there is going to be a much bigger conversation on Carlsson being overall better. He can operate with anyone (like datsyuk and zetterberg could play with anyone). I don't think bedard can, I think he needs another higher end player to play with.
May be a hot take and that's fine, but the only way I am wrong is if 20 years has passed and we take a look at it.
If matthews and mcdavid (moreso mcdavid) would just learn to play defense more than offense, they both would have had a cup or at least been in the finals a couple of times already.
If only bowman was still coaching i guess lol
