Meh, he will be moved at some point this season. Until then he can continue to learn to generate his own offense.
I'm going to go with Emmerton, but tomato, tomahtoWhy get those bums, when you can just get Jan Mursak?
Pretty sure Rasmussen had some very drastic splits in that season. Wouldn't be surprised if Danielson is outproducing Rasmussen at the 7 game mark.I was on record as not being a fan of sending him back to the lowest level of hockey. People suggested his team would be better this year. Not quite looking that way, eh? They have an over ager who has some nice stats.
I have trouble seeing how this is good for his development, but he seems super mature so hopefully he'll turn out at least at Rasmussen's level bare minimum. The good news is Larkin now looks like a true 1C with a legit goal scorer on his wing.
I am greatly tempering my expectations at this point. To be fair there is a long way to go, but I was expecting him to be a much bigger point producer when playing against a bunch of 16 to 19 year olds.
For the record Rasmussen had 59 points and was +17 in his final year in the WHL. He was generating 0.5 more PPG than where Danielson is right now.
Yeah, North American scouting hasn't been our strong suit.Pretty sure Rasmussen had some very drastic splits in that season. Wouldn't be surprised if Danielson is outproducing Rasmussen at the 7 game mark.
But seeing as it's 7 games, I'll also point out that it took 4-5 years for 99% of people on this board to realize Rasmussen is better than Zadina.
So maybe we don't overreact to intrasquad scrimmages where he looks good and we ALSO don't overreact to 7 games where his numbers are just ok.
Also, Canada has a small history of producing good hockey players, and the vast majority of those players played in the CHL. I don't know why we are so obsessed with getting him out of there

Absolutely.
Then again, he only started to get good when he got better players around him and it seems like he learned quite a bit and quickly.
I love his stare though lol. He is always at 100% intense focused face with any interaction he has. I can't even remember the last time he ever looks happy
Would never know based on this post we are talking about someone who’s played 7 games in Juniors.I was on record as not being a fan of sending him back to the lowest level of hockey. People were horribly overhyping him during the preseason. That's just the reality here.
He should develop into a solid middle 6 player, but the cries for him to make the opening night roster were always out to lunch.
Question is, who's dead pan stare is better: Jimmy Howards or Rasmussens?Absolutely.

How about Raymond? Is it just me, or does he always look like he's high as hell?Question is, who's dead pan stare is better: Jimmy Howards or Rasmussens?
Yeah, he looks crispy a lot of the timeHow about Raymond? Is it just me, or does he always look like he's high as hell?

Ras. Howard shows more human emotions. Ras just has one look of seriousness the entire game and I don't know how his head doesn't hurt with that much intensity of a look lol.Question is, who's dead pan stare is better: Jimmy Howards or Rasmussens?
Big picture, are you impressed with our North American scouting?Would never know based on this post we are talking about someone who’s played 7 games in Juniors.
From our most recent prospect rankings, players from North America make up:Big picture, are you impressed with our North American scouting?
I honestly don't care about prospect rankings. Development is all that matters. We have Larkin and...? Rasmussen and Veleno are nice complimentary pieces, not guys you build around. Zadina, Cholowski, Givani Smith, McIssac, Mastrosimone, Svechnikov: these are all 1st or 2nd round picks who are at least 4 years out from their draft class. They should be contributors but none of them have a future in Detroit. From our most recent prospect rankings, players from North America make up:
4 of the top 10
8 of the top 15
11 of the top 20
Factoring in that the top 10 picks have mostly gone overseas, I would say: Yes

Our drafting and development out of NA has been lackluster.
I'm not really sure of a good way to look up when scouts were fired/hired, but I don't think looking at draft picks from 3-4 years prior to when our current GM was hired is a good way to evaluate where our North American scouting currently stands.I honestly don't care about prospect rankings. Immediately following Draper's retirement from hockey, he was added to the Red Wings' front office staff. He previously served as the special assistant to the general manager, Ken Holland. In this position Draper "work closely with Detroit’s management team, assisting in player evaluation at both the professional and amateur levels. He will be asked to provide input regarding potential trades and free agent signings, as well as providing insight into potential selections at the annual NHL Entry Draft."
Good callout, but he is clearly not part of the core.Tyler Bertuzzi, can't forget about him
I have a good feeling about this current group we have too
But yeah, for quite a while our NA scouting has not been very good
