Nate looked great for the first half of the first period. Turned it on for OT. Overall a really good game, like Brandon's goalie too but Philly already drafted him.

The only reason I see him back in the AHL is to stagger the money within the cap, and I am not an NHL accountant so that may even be nonsensical.

A 9th pick, with an outstanding preseason is sent back to the WHL as an over ag player. Why? Development? He is a 4th year player in the League. The expectation is for him to dominate. Anything less is a letdown. Thought he earned the ticket to GR and a 9 game look.

he can't go to GR but other than that I agree.

He’s been playing top pairing usage wise so far this year. The coaching staff definitely trust him
Agreed. And it seems that the trust is coming from seeing him pick up more and more as each game goes by. Defensively, he's missing less assignments, he's aggressive against the rush but not out of position, and he's shown no fear getting into the corner battles and comes out winning lots.

Offensively one thing I want to see is seeing his stretch pass used more. Maybe he feels the more confident route is to just skate it, which he's really good at. However in the NHL he could be adding that Karlsson laser pass and create a shit ton of more transition offense that way. Another weapon for defenders to have to watch from him.

He can't play in the AHL this year.
