Considering he’s never dominated the WHL, one more season down there won’t hurt. He can develop his offensive game better.

Yeah no kidding and that narrative on this board is getting old. People at the draft hated that he didnt put up like 100 points for how high he was picked.

He can go down and dominate more, he can also focus more on working on stuff hes learned inh is first NHL camp. He can also focus on lifting weights and adding weight at an easier level than trying to keep his head above water in a good pro league.

One junior season after his draft year isnt going to hurt him and its annoying reading people say that as much as they have been

Well, people want Danielson "to dominate WHL“, less because they think it will help him develop, and more because they need a reassurance that he has offense, and there is only one messure - amount of points.

The only reason for him to go to WHL is ice time.

He is not far away from moving up, and personally I would not mind giving him the 9 games. Question is who we put on waivers.

Fischer will clear. Could also put Fabbri on IR.

The way Ed and Dannielsan have looked, I doubt Fischer and Ghost will be back next year. More than likely either Perron or Sprong will be gone as well.

I'm not worried about it, if Danielson doesn't make the roster this year, it just makes next year more interesting.

He is way too good for the WHL. I'll be disappointed if he isnt playing for the Wings on opening night.

When was the last time a player made the team right after the draft for us?
Was it Keith Primeau?
I think you're right. Joe Murphy had a cup of coffee in his D1 year as the number 1 overall pick but he's older than Primeau

Apologies if this stupid question has already been answered, but why can't he play in the AHL?

I never quite understand these minor league contract rules.

It's a deal between canadian junior leagues and NHL.

Players drafted from canadian juniors, and who are contracted there, have to be sent back to their their teams, if the guy does not get to NHL.

Send him back to the WHL where is is going to have the puck on his stick a ton. Personally I think it is the best place for him to learn to expand his offensive game and his understanding of the offensive game. His 200ft game isn't going to get worse there either.

It still same crap linemates, like last year, and he already excels much better with professional level linemates.

Danielson has nothing to learn at WHL.

He could come to Finland. Tappara Tampere will need a Center. We have Witkowski here to be his room-mate and mentor.

The WHL would definitely be a good place for him to develop. I have no issues with him starting there. However, Holland/Yzerman love to say it's up to the player.

It is still a little early but Danielson could be playing his way in to the top 9. Generally speaking Id say the top 8 forwards are Larkin, Cat, Copp, Compher, Perron, Sprong, Ras and Raymond. After that? I think the door is open enough that Danielson can earn that spot.

Honestly, If he keeps this up, they have to at least give him a cup of coffee.

Either way, what a great "problem" to have. Kudos to Nate.

If Brandon hasn't improved, he will be moved at some point this year. Things change quickly with CHL rosters are young kids become vets. I disagree with you. I think he has more to learn offensively and the time and space of the CHL is where to do it.

That said, I would keep him with the NHL roster for as long as possible.

I am vindicated by Benson kicking ass in Buffalo, I knew he would be great. That kid is going to be a superstar.

But if Danielson can build off this start and become our Bergeron, it’s hard to argue against that.
If he can become our bergeron (and I do agree the comparison is somewhat appropriate with style of play, etc.) then we won the draft.

Bedard is flashy and all but I still say (and have said it so many times here) Fantili>Bedard.

I was also on a slight crusade all last night posting the video of danielson dummying bedard on the powerkill late in the game to every single twitter post of bedard doing his one move that amounted to nothing. I mean his scoring chance wasn't even that great, whereas danielson dawgs him on the back check and sets up edvinsson for a much better scoring opportunity.

I sincerely believe that he has outperformed Kasper and Berggren this pre-season. Without a doubt. He looks like larkin out there, just not as fast but what he has lacked in speed (i honestly just think he matches his speed with who he is playing against) he makes up for in his hockey IQ.

If Berggren makes this team and Danielson doesn't, then I am not sure what to think at this point. Both of them have out-performed Fischer as well.

I know it isn't the right topic, but where is Kostin? I feel like I haven't seen him play at all this pre-season and that is somewhat alarming, considering I thought he was going to be an absolutely fantastic addition for us.

Agree with this.

I could believe, they will send Berggren down and protect the other players who are waiver exempt. They will give Danielson that 9 games, and then they will decide.

Send back to WHL, promote Berggreen etc. Or maybe there's extra injury already and they need Berggren sooner.

Still don't think Fischer or any other UFA signed on summer will be waived. They will need PK guys and Fischer is one of them, as a specialist.

This competition is more of between offensive kid forwards.

They did do that with Raymond and he played his way on the team. So, I hope that is the case. The WHL would be a waste for him at this point in his development. AHL would probably be the perfect fit so Kasper and Danielson can duke it out to get 1C, but if these are the cards, Kasper to AHL as first call up and Danielson slotted in as 4C and continuously learn from the other centers on the team to push his way to 3C by January with Copp on his wing for security.
can he not play in the AHL?
No. CHL has contract with nhl and if he can't play with nhl team, then he has to go to CHL.

Brandon has scored 27 goals in 5 games this year. He has some players to play with this year that took huge steps from where they were last year.

I’m not worried one bit with wherever they choose to develop him this year.
