Sooo that final (=last) game in Calgary 1988... do we like totally owe the Silver to the Red Machine who handed it to us, or were we just that good?

A friend needs to know before tonight's game.

Looked into it. That playoff/final round system must've been one of the weirdest ever, lol.

USSR probably played their hardest, and Finland probably deserved it.

...if that means they'll try their hardest to beat Russia tomorrow.
(Feel North America deserves to advance)

Not really, since sweden won the group, so that I do not care much about. But it is a joke team and it is shame for the whole sport that this joke teams is in the tournament at all and the more succesfull they are the bigger the travesty becomes, since that would on expense on real teams. All star team do not belong in a so called international tournaments. It do not matter if they are good or not or if they play a fun hockey or not etc, that is besides the point.

It's an exhibition tournament that is basically a beautifully enhanced pre season.
The tournament might be a bigger joke than the two teams put together. Anything that gets
Most of the best hockey players in the world on the ice is damned fun. The only thing more fun would have been team Canada B. They could possibly beat everyone, and I'm American:laugh:

Coach Todd needs to play Tro on PP ! Everyone else literally has gotten a shot there with little to no results. Tro saved teams bacon today killing off 2-3 penalties plus key goal earlier in the game.

But when it comes to locating the other 3 members of their team on the ice - especially the defensemen - they are as blind as bats.

Dude, watch some other games... You don't even have to go far for that. Try Sweden's yesterday's game and Stralman's goal...

I am very impressed with coach Gronborg, what a difference with Marts. He knows how to play to his team's strengths and knows how to change the game and achieve the result needed. Team kids were all hustle, nothing behind it, just pure run-run-run. But smart hockey and coaching overpowers it

Umm when Russia wins tomorrow and advances I'd love to know which 3 European nations are eliminated. It would only be Finland and the Czechs

The Finns will have nothing to lose, the possibility of winning a game before leaving, and 100% crowd support, which usually results in favorable refereeing. Russia will have a huge mountain to climb tomorrow, which emphasizes how tough it is to win in that environment.

Cart before horse. He hasn't established himself as the best on Team NA yet, much less the NHL.

Connor is such a good skater and has 3 assists and no goals despite logging the most icetime and PP icetime of any forward by a large margin in 3 games and 2 pretourney games. You don't think that beats Johnny Gaudreaus 5 goals and 4 assists for 9 pts in the same 5 games despite logging 30 percent less icetime?

What's wrong with you?

you literally said "regardless of who wins tomorrow" as if either team winning meant 3 European nations were eliminated.

the rest of your statement was garbage and embarrassing as well but I'm just going to focus on the facts that you can't get straight.

oh yes he has lol nobody is more dangerous or can change a game quicker than Mcdavid. And he also is always back in his zone deep helping out defenders while johnny is letting everyone else do the work on his line lol

I'm dreading that first game against the Oilers when McDavid consumes the Flames with fireballs from his eyes and bolts of lightning from his arse.

He probably thought they were in as well. Thanks coaching staff and management for keeping the players well informed and making sure they went all out coasting to get into OT when they needed a regulation win.

Russia always controlled their destiny. They would still need to beat Finland prior to a shootout. So, still have to go out and earn it.

See what each team brings. Russia knows what is on the line. Win and they are in.

Finland, they are done. Russia isn't their arch nemesis like Sweden. Could go either way. They could play for the fun out it and just go for it. Or, they could say, let's not get hurt before training camp, what's the point.

lets see now lol you are seriously counting exhibition games lol lol and lets get some facts straight, Johnny does no work in his own end and lets his teammates do all the work. Connor is always deep in his zone with responsibilities. Nobody is more dangerous on the ice than Mcdavid and he creates so much by backing up defenders and creating chances like the first goal today. I am not here to bash Johnny, he is a good player and a nifty player but he is not in Connor's league and he would never be called a generational talent. Only Calgary flame fans think that lol lol
