Did you watch it? Eichel was behind McDavid. Matthews can't x-ray it through Eichel. I'm sure he tried to pass to McDavid. Either that, or he passed it to Eichel because he had a more open passing lane as you could bypass the D that was relatively close.

McDavid carried the puck into the zone and broke through the defenders but after that, he was literally just standing in the corner...for like a good 3-4 seconds before the goal...Are you watching the game?

That's my point. Who really cares enough to do the hard work and get the focus you need to win against a high caliber team like these when there is no real prestige in winning? I don't feel anything when we score. Must be weird as hell for the actual players.

People are trying to credit every Matthews goal/point/shred of success to McDavid, it's ridiculous. That goal had nothing to do with McDavid after the puck came into the zone. That's my point.

Pretty pathetic to hate a player just because a fanbase is excited about a player. Of course some of the praise has been over the top, but hating a player for that reason is just dumb and petty.
Exactly. Murray might have cost his team the spot in semis by "toughing it out". "Toughing it out" is the most stupid and selfish thing you can possibly do in my opinion. Just let a healthy guy replace you and be more useful than the injured you could possibly be.

Agreed. I wasn't very impressed by Matthew's second goal either. It's not like he kept the play alive by dangling a defender on his knees or anything crazy.
Last I checked scoring a goal is called finishing a play, regardless if it's a tap in, or an end to end rush.
