Lundqvist is probably very closed being pulled but I saw a couple of saves.

Sweden went in the game half asleep and got painfully punished for it.

Wonder if the rest of the game will be like the first 8 minutes, or like the last 12. If it is the former, U-23 will probably chase Lundqvist during the second period.

What a ride that first period was. It was all NA the first 5 minutes, Sweden was not prepared for that storm (how the hell arent they? it was too obvious it would happen)

After that it cooled down and Sweden gained more control over the play. But seriously, 4 break aways in that period alone is waaay too much. If that continues I just dont see this ending well, make sure there are no break aways and I think Sweden takes this.

Crazy period. Hope for more controlled play this period lol

Big difference between saying McD "carries the line" (his line mates are subpar) and the line playing well (all three line mates playing well, McD with some fine individual efforts). Hockey's a team sport and that's a team line. Lots of NA players having strong games. Three McDs does not a successful line make.

Those games were called "Pre-tournament" Games. As in before the tournament.

Therefore, you can't claim points from Pre-tournament Games count for the actual tournament, sorry.

Lundqvist can only really be responsible for one of those goals (Johnny G breakway). The first two were not really on him, especially the Matthews goal.

If Gibson is trying to play injured, pull him and cross our fingers with our third string goalie.

This team is the most skilled team in the group but they're being decimated with bad luck and injuries. They had 4 breakaways in that period, this game could have been 7 or 8-2.

Man gibson is fighting it... Its not like Hellybuyck isnt good. He is probably the better goalie to begin with. Put him in!

Karlsson looks slow, its not like he usually works out hard and he is usually a slow starter so this might be a good thing from a sens fan perspective. Hit the ground running to start the season.

P.S Matthews and Mcdavid are amazing no need to bicker about it. This thread is about the game its not a pissing match.

Matthews has finished his chances, and I'm not quite sure what Matthews has to do with McDavid's lack of finishing ability this tournament in the first place.

McDavid is carrying the line(Not sure how people can argue that honestly), but that's not to say Matthews and Scheifele aren't also having an impact on the game as well.

See but you can't say he's carrying the line when what each of the players do is equally important. Matthews is providing the finish on the line, Mcdavid is the creator and Scheifele allows them both to do what they do by being the defensively responsible player on the line. The line doesn't work without each of them doing what they do
