Gibson has a tendency to give up soft goals at times, no reason Sweden can't come back and win this game. They've looked better the last few minutes. Their defensemen have finally woken up
 
Gibson looks very shaky. That goal wasn't good but he is also flopping around and doesn't seem to be comfortable in the net. Hopefully he gets in the zone here
 
Hopefully team Sweden is waking up. They were obviously not prepared for this speed. But NAs defense and goaltending is definently not on pair with their offense
 
If it deflected it was right off the stick of the shooter, puck didn't really have a trajectory before the deflection as it came off the shooters stick and the defenders stick at the same time.

Matthews has been alright, but he's not without his faults in the tournament so far either. He hasn't been good in board battles at all for the most part.


These 3 games shouldn't change ones opinion between Matthews and Eichel. If you liked Matthews before, you still should. But if you preferred Eichel before this tournament that shouldn't be changed right now either.

Your analysis is terrible.

Matthews played on a garbage team at the WHC and still played great as well.

Matthews and McDavid are helping each other, not one player being a product of the other.

Part of the read is seeing what the shooters stick is going before release. Having it turn into a mess of 2 sticks removes that advantage of being able to predict. By then, it's it's going to a place you're not already covering, it's likely to go in.

Gibson has looked sloppy tonight, his movements don't look crisp and he just let in a pretty bad goal. It sucks that Murray is hurt right now.

That's fair. But I dont think anyone should be changing there opinions on the two guys based on a 3 game tournament.


Matthews is quite obviously benefiting from playing with McDavid as well. Much more favorable minutes, and McDavid is creating a tonne of free space for his linemates with his play. He doesn't lose puck battles and is constantly drawing 2 and 3 defenders on him at once.
 
Team NA is the definition of a great team with bad goaltending.

Which is great, it makes the games a lot closer and more intense.

I'm sorry I can't see the part where he said that Matthews playing with McDavid was NOT mutually beneficial.
