Not sure my last post was posted. Having internet issues

Anyone else worried about McDavid with that speed? He's so fast most D won't be able to react with body. I fear that one of them may stick their knee or elbow out.
Well I guess if he gets tripped at full speed he'll be in orbit.

Wow, when is the last time I saw such a dumb penalty *Sigh*

Russia Russia...

I don't see where they get these penalties from, both calls were questionable so far.
Verdict after 1 period: team NA leads, but they're letting the Russians play, much more so than Sweden did. 1-0 doesn't mean much at this point, since the Russinas have shown they're capable of locking NA in their own zone.

It's not Eichel hate but he's been offside too much and trying to be fancy at the blue line.

Russia looked much better in the 2nd half of the 1st. Some sloppy play at the end of the period by NA.

Lol...he was on the ice for every goal for last game...so that's 4....meanwhile 2 other pairings were on for no goals for.

Yup.....bad.

He was also on the ice for the only goal against and was mostly responsible for that goal against

Ghost is an amazing OFD, but I don't think you can really argue that he's poor defensively. Luckily the Flyers shouldn't need him to be good defensively, he could easily end up the Flyers #3D long term just because of how good Provorov and Sanheim will be.

Exactly, they are playing well as a unit. That line creates chance after chance when they are on the ice.

The whole team is playing so well, their version of a bad game so far is one or two mistakes. No one has played poorly at all.

NA is letting the Russians play - they're letting them enter the zone. Russia always has a tough time with very defensive teams, the young NA team is very offense-oriented and this suits Russia's style. Russia still has a good chance of winning this.

Looks like after the goal, russia has been putting out zaitsev pairing for mcdavid line

Every time i see zaitsev, he's all over matthews... playing fantastic

It's like i'm both happy and sad that this is happening

Eichel hate is quite easily explainable. He will always be tied to two players. These two players cover at least 80% of the HF fanbase so the odds are against him.

Russia looks good once they gain the zone. They will come out flying in the 2nd
On a diff topic I don't understand the hate certain guys are getting on here based on 1 shift or 1 play. This is wide open fast hockey, turnovers are going to happen.
I dont see why some posters have to tear down player A to build up player B

IMO, this could easily turn into a "who gets tired first" game. Unless Russia can get a couple ahead in the second, it will go to the kids.

It's strange, the Russian defense has stepped it up today, although their skating speed still leaves something to be desired. But the Russians are more organized and efficient today, which is good.

Yup. This game is far from over, NA needs to tighten things up. Russia was buzzing in their zone for extended lengths.

Yeah...too many times we've seen the Russians refuse to adjust their game no matter the prior outcomes. This is a welcome change.

Russia needs a quick tying goal in the 2nd, after that I think they'll be able to catch momentum and win. One can't say they're being outplayed, like yesterday, actually in the 2nd half of the 1st, Russia was sharper than NA imo.

Or he could simply play better.

Parayko got knocked off the puck like he was a PeeWee player on that goal. If that was Ghost, the haters would have blamed him saying he is too small.

Funny how that is.

So sure...Ghost on the ice for 4 for and 1 against....2 other pairings on for none for and none against. I would say Ghost did his job quite well.

Eichel hasn't been bad but nothing spectacular so far. The hate is outrageous every turnover people lose there mind. This is coming from a leafs fan.

Drouin has been a turnover machine. Larkin keeps skating into corners. Jones has been really good. Ghost looks much better than last game. RNH line in general isn't clicking. A lot of turnovers by all lines that are from lack of cohesion, these guys don't know how each other play that well yet (very understandable). Eichel needs to settle down. The first line has been great. I think all the defenders have done well. Solid goaltending, too.

Russia looked to be pushing the pace after Team North America scored. Team North America should be more aware defensively as you don't want to get into a track meet with this Russian team. That's what they want
