it looks very harmonic with Markström maybe it's due to the fact that he has to know Hedman, Karlsson and OEL from juniors and one of them is Al-Saud goong to be on the ive

Lundqvist is playing the next game if he's feeling 100%, with a 100% certainty. Markström has been really solid, but he's not been tested that much either. He has made a couple of quality saves, otherwise it has been routine saves.

If Lundqvist plays poorly the next game, then Markström probably plays.

It's tough to test guys at this stage though. I think you have to make the decision who your going with and stick with them. The prelims was for testing.

Sweden need 1 more win to advance to semis. I dont want lundqvist giving up 5 goals next game.

The other sweden lines stepped up in the 2nd and 3rd.

Well, all experts have Hedman as top 5 in the world a lot of them probably top 3.

It wasn't always that cut and dry. I think after this year he really solidified himself.

Sweden had 50 minutes, Russia 10. And almost made it 2-2 with 7 seconds left.

Never ever think you have it in the bag against Russia. You never do until the [MOD] lady sings.

Again, not sure what the Swedish Coach was thinking ... why not put out the Center who's been winning the lion's share of draws all game?

Swedish third line was really something tonight. THey had a helluva game.

Yeah getting a competent player on that line instead of Berglund did wonders, who knew? Nah but really the speed of Backlund was a well needed addition on that line. And Landeskog who's supposed to be the leading player on that libe really took charge. They sorta ran out of fuel in the third though.

Oh and also suprised by how well soda worked on the wing they tried that in Boston with krejci it did not go well at all. So I thought he was simply too slow to play wing but I guess not.

Roll with Markström. Henke has been both bad and injured. Now sick. Apperantly he has been bad in practice as well. According to Swedish TV. So as long he is off his game, in one way or another , there shouldn't be any question who starts. Especially after today's match.

We (Swedes) tend to be too negative. I'm not sure I even want to read the analysis about the last minutes when Russia were pushing.

I'm very happy we defeated on the very best hockey teams in the world, Russia. Now let's win the next game too, it is all about winning.

If I were the coach I would give Markstrom the next game too, if he fails then it's time for a change. Lundqvist is my favorite Swedish athlete for some years (all his years in New York) but it doesn't matter right now. I highly doubt our coach has the balls though.

Russia was lucky to get away with only a one goal loss IMO, they only looked to be advancing because Grönborg switched to the trap with 10 minutes left, which is the right decision more often than not when you're up by two goals. If Sweden had continued with the system of the first two periods it would more likely have ended 3-0 than 2-1.

Impressed with all four lines today. Keep going like this and they'll score more than 2 goals.

Play lundqvist next game, if he plays well you run with him, If he struggles again, you run with markstrom

This. Marky basically bought Lundqvist another "warm up"-game so to speak. IF Hank struggles again you go with Marky for the rest of the tournament, even if it might end against North America. Or maybe they split regardless since the games are back to back and you play the one who impressed the most for the potential semi. Lundqvist 100% plays on Tuesday if he's healthy.

agreed. Grönborg almost cost us the game. The WJC mistakes again.

Karlsson had a great game imo. One bad pass in his own zone but aside from that he was solid on both ends imo. Liked his partner a lot too Ekholm. That being said my favorite D this game was Hedman, what a beast! Sweden defense overall very good

Backlund made all the difference, Berglund looks totally out of shape and form. Now Landeskog and Söderbergh have a chance showing their skills.

Clearly they wanted to give Berglund some game time before the tournament if injuries and so on would happen. This is why exhibition games shouldnt be all that, they laborate and try stuff. But clearly they had another plan. Berglund was never going to play unless injuries.

Btw. "Hammer" Hjalmarsson's stick work is fun to watch. And than he has Hedman as his partner. Both more or less flawless today. L Eriksson not as noticable today as in previous games though.

I like both. For different reasons.

What elements do you prefer about the big ice?

Some of the stuff Canada did at the 2015 WHC were "pretty" with the bigger ice, some of the passing and setups were phenomenal.

I really prefer the smaller ice overall because of the increased hitting and intensity, hockey is a physical game I've always loved the intensity and pace the smaller ice brings out.

The thing is. Even if he's only there in case of injuries it's not that hard to find a center or a winger who is more skilled and could do what Berglund doesn't that wont stop bugging me. (Sorry for sorta straying away from the subject)
