Im convinced Rinne poured super glue on the goal line.

And Eichel should take Scheif's spot on the top line. Bad penalty and now goalie interference.

And it's funny how much **** McDavid took for the exhibition games. These are the games that matter and you can see who is stepping up.

I think it helps he has Matthews on his line who has been playing great and making chances almost every time he has the puck.

If Puljujarvi and Rantanen for example were chosen instead of Korpikoski and Lehtera this game would be Finland U-23 vs America U-23
Lot of young guys in this game and it really shows. Don't remember when i've seen a game with tempo this high.

They have a shot but I dont think they are as good as some say here. In my opinion, their speed is masking some of their problem. Let's see if they get out of their group first.

I agree, I was just saying I don't think their national pride will deter them from beating team Canada, which mindfly implied.

Scheifele worked great with both Matthews and McDavid in the 3 pre-tourney games. He didn't know where the puck was and Barkov tried to body up against him in the crease and Scheifele just dumped him on his ass in return. Nobody even saw the penalty so it's hard to tell whether it was a stupid one or not.

Swedish commentators were shocked that Rinne looked like this, since he's an "elite goaltender" who "often wins games completely on his own". I'm amazed that the same guys that seem well-researched in general has completely missed what's gone on over the last four years.

Our older guys like Koivu, Komarov and JJ were trash in that period, that must be a bit deflating to the team when our leaders get beaten by kids

Not that we'd expect anything else, but im sure to our players it's still kinda eye-opening. I hope they still keep battling hard.

Maybe it's early and Rinne will play well after the 1st period shakes. Who knows how this game will go. Goalies are strange the best of times.

Selanne is the definition of a beauty

his hair puts king henriks hair to shame.

McDavid = No Finish

I can't understand why Rinne is so overrated in Finland. Rask was the best goalie in the Sochi and has outplayed Rinne in NHL almost every year. Rinne seems like a nice guy so maybe it's that.

His former goaltending coach is Finland's goaltending coach...

Luckily it's only 1-0
Finland hasn't had one good start in these games so far.
Usually they improve as the game goes on.
Hopefully it's the case today also.

Team NA dominated the first period, but it's only one period. Still 40 minutes of hockey left, Team NA needs to push the pace. I expect Finland to come out stronger, finish more checks, play more like a team for the rest of the game.

Because they want to prove to everyone that a new era has begun. I have no doubt in my mind these kids would love to have a shot to whoop the best team in the world.

Let's say theoretically that this NA team could exist in the olympics as well... I don't think the canadian players would want to ruin Canadas most important gold

I do believe because it's an NHL tournament, things are different... a win here doesn't mean as much as olympic gold (national-pride-wise) even though the quality of the players and the games are as good if not better.

Those two have been great. They just have an anchor (No offense Jets fans) on their line. They need someone who is smarter with the puck.

Passing into McDavid's skates on an odd man rush just isn't going to cut it.
