The players didn't suddenly become lazy and heartless when they aren't usually (with a few arguable exceptions). Teams that are not well structured and feel uncomfortable often become passive and reactive, which often gets mistaken for exactly what you said.

a large part of the US team is def lazy and heartless and always will be, USA hockey needs to clear all management and get away from this grit way of game

US talents sitting at home:

Tyler Johnson
Phil Kessel
Kevin Shatternkirk
Justin Faulk

US talents on the NA team:

Jack Eichel
Auston Matthews
Johnny Gaudreau
Brandon Saad

That's quite a bit of talent that you would think can outproduce what they have now.

I thought this US team would flop but even I could never have imagined this...if Team Canada isn't careful they could suffer the same fate, albeit the sheer amount of talent available to Doug Armstrong/Mike Babcock could ultimately mask their conservative nature.

There is still a 3rd period to play.If I remember correctly Boston came back against Toronto by scoring what 3 quick goals and then won in OT.USA will win 5-3.

Okposo also wasn't selected and he was one of their better forwards available.

USA lacks intensity. Doesn't matter if they had more skill, playing this low-paced game will still rack upp losses in the WC.

I know it's easy to blame the player selections when you suck, but they could very well be down 5-0 if they had invited the players you mention.

3-0. I, like many others, enjoy Tortorella getting embarrassed. That old school hack has no business coaching top international sides.

I just feel bad for Sullivan, he must be so frustrated standing beside Tortorella.

I saw 4 practice matches (Finland's + Russia-Canada) and in all of them the tempo and intensity was like something totally different. The USA looks today like a totally different team than the one that dominated Finland for almost 40 minutes with high intensity and hard forecheck. Weird. Rather bad quality and low intensity match so far.

Team Europe to their credit are back checking like demons, clogging the neutral zone, pushing everything to the perimeter and taking advantage of Yanks D, who have pinched at bad times and tried to force things that really weren't there...Team Europe, in that first period, counterattacked with gusto and punished Yanks for their sins...

I do think they miss Buff. He won't sit out again...But the damage, in such a short tourney, may already be done

Olympics have more teams and they actually just held qualifications. I know why you don't like that team Europe exists and actually plays well. I'm not a big fan of gimmick teams either, but if it bothers certain people, then I'm all for it. :sarcasm:

I don't mind them playing well, power to them if they do! It's just a gimmick concept.

Team Europe at home:
Swedish team
Finnish team
Russian team
Czech team

Thats a good amount of talent! :naughty::yo:

US went with the skill game, not intimidation factor vs Europe.

Really bad move. They would have been better off to define themselves as the roughest team to play against.

They have no idea how to define themselves. With this brand of hockey, they might as well have had Kessel on the team.

Buff no playing = dumb.
