Just like its a natural reaction to try and kick the puck to your stick, doesn't mean it should count.

I'm from Europe (Sweden), and I think the concept behind Team Europe is marvelous - I just wish there was a spot on the team for the Gustav Nyquist's and Jonas Brodin's of the world. However, that is in large part due to my political views regarding the EU. I don't want to hijack this thread with political conversations, but I could easily see how a pro-nation-state anti-EU sort of person would find it degrading.

Well, it's an interesting idea, but if you ask the players, they would probably much rather play for their own country than for an undefined 'Team Europe'. Countries or 'nations' are formed for a reason, the largest being language plus mentality, customs, etc. You can't bundle up all 'Europeans' and tell me they're all the same. Spaniards, Germans, French people, Polish people, Hungarians etc. are quite different from one another.

I live in Europe as well but am a fan of team Russia. However, I think it's not fair for the other nations to be lumped together into 'Team Europe'.
