AV hitting Miller pretty hard in those quotes. Wonder what Miller did to piss him off? You'd think a kid being shuttled back and forth from ahl to nhl would be trying to be the model citizen when with the big club to impress the coach.
AV said McDonagh is day to day.

Im hoping he wont rush him back too soon. The Rangers could afford to be without him for a few games given their schedule.
Girardi elbowed Burrows in the back of the head, which was arguably more dirty and painful than the hit itself. I don't mind that he did it frankly, but I don't get why dropping the gloves and throwing some punches is seen as the end all be all of response. When was the last time someone was legitimately hurt in a fight against a guy who isn't in the league almost solely based on fighting prowess? When was the last time a fight stopped any player from running around? Cooke got clocked and straight up embarrassed by a 19 year old Evander Kane and he did some filthy stuff after, too.
This fantasy world where fighting after a hit someone deters players like Burrows from doing what they think they have to do to maintain a lucrative career is just that, fantasy.
Let's also take into account that if G, or anyone, instigated a fight at the end of the game, they'd be suspended. Is it worth losing a whole top d pair to send some message to Burrows? A message that's already been sent to him over and over with no response?
I'm usually a pretty positive dude, but this game is making me a bit nervous.
I dont really agree with his assessment here. First off, he needs to watch McDonagh more because he is quickly approaching the elite of the elite level. I wouldn't compare him to Leetch (i wouldnt compare any defenseman to Leetch, he was a generational player). Thats a cop out since its a Ranger to Ranger comparison.
Lack of immediate reaction? Sure. Maybe someone should have been smacked Burrows around. But if you go back and watch the final 43 seconds of the game the Rangers took runs at 2 different Canucks and Brassard was sending howitzers at the net towards Lacks head. The Rangers were being aggressive trying to score there and make their mark that way. Maybe not the response some wanted but in my estimation it was a response of some kind. They definitely showed some more emotion.
Personally, I feel like if you don't recognize the situation for what it is quickly and make instant retribution, its silly to try and do it after the fact, on the road, with less than a minute to go, about to win against an opponent you will not see in the playoffs.
No doubt would i like to see a little more passion immediately after the hit but who knows if any of the Rangers on the ice saw it clearly or even realized what exactly happened. Just because one of your players goes to ice doesnt mean something dirty occurred. We can talk about this after the fact after seeing the replays dozens of times and thinking it through. The response should be made in a split second in this instance.
Does this show the Rangers are soft? Possibly. But i think the whole "soft as butter" and "toughness" debate is blown out of proportion with the fans. This isnt 1973.
You can Agree or Disagree with what's being said. But a bottom line questions is being raised and that is what is important along with a perception that such a question creates:
Have the Rangers been exposed as a passive team that will not stick up for each other?
Are players around the league asking themselves that question about this Rangers team?
It will be interesting to see where this goes should any liberties be taken tonight. I will be keeping an eye on Danny G. tonight.
Duchene and Landeskog will do that to you.
Finally an early game for us Euros.![]()

And yet a Boston player got kneed in the head, one had their leg broken with a slash, one had their finger bit.
This revenge fantasy thing doesn't seem to translate to the ice.
Duchene is out with bum knee
You're right, saying it was more painful was poor wording. McD's arm got stuck awkwardly between two players and the wall from what I can tell. G straight threw an elbow at the back of Burrows' head. There was no other player, no involvement from the playing area itself, just one guy purposely throwing his elbow at another. Like I said, I don't hold it against G, the dude was pissed, and he hit Burrows in the helmet, didn't seem to leave much damage. What I meant was that G's move also had a good deal of potential to hurt somebody.
Anyway, I agree that his response was fine. If G dropped the gloves, there's a good chance that the Rangers start tonight's game without an entire first pair. That's lunacy and it's absolutely not worth it to "send a message" in a way that hasn't been effective in more than a decade. He gave Burrows a good wack, and he skated off the ice a winner while Burrows skated off a loser who's team isn't going to make the playoffs and who's coach is almost certainly going to fired because of that entire team's poor performance, Burrows' included. Take the big win and move on IMO.
Shawn Thornton would have went full scum bag and jumped him in a disgusting mannerHmmmn, I wonder what would have happened if Burrows put that same hit on Krejci?
How in the world would G possibly be out tonight if he dropped the gloves the other night?
Read the rulesHow in the world would G possibly be out tonight if he dropped the gloves the other night?
46.22 Fines and Suspensions – Instigator in Final Five Minutes of Regulation Time (or Anytime in Overtime) - A player who is deemed to be the instigator of an altercation in the final five (5) minutes of regulation time or at anytime in overtime (see 46.12) shall be suspended for one game, pending a review of the incident.
It does more than exact instant justice, it solidifies the locker room.
he is right somebody should have leveled Burrows but we dont have those kind of players so thats what we get for not having or developing players that are not just goons.hell we dont even have a goon?
