Never ever would he have gotten an instigator after that hit.

I would've let Carcillo and Dorsett on myself but with McDonagh likely out, as you know, the last thing I want is my other top pairing blueliner fighting.

Nope, for the first time in quite some time we thankfully do not have a useless goon occupying a valuable roster spot.

Don't worry, if Glen Sather reads these boards you can be assured the first thing he'll do is go out and look for a couple of useless goons to satiate the fanbase.

Referees understand what is going on in that spot.

No one is getting an instigator there.

That hit happens mid period and nothing is done until 30 seconds left? Yeah I can see a guy getting the 2-5-10 treatment.

We're talking about heat of the moment here. A questionable hit by a well known pest and opposing team reacts? There's no instigation there on anyone's part other than Burrows himself.

The Refs understand the game and make the appropriate calls during these situations.

No one gets the instigator there.

Fair point Fitzy I question AV decisions for who he puts out at the end of games with leads he needs to make better choices he will get someone killed.

I disagree with your assertion. Prove me wrong.

Not really quantifiable, other than playing the game, being on a team that has gone through this and being on the ice during a similar situation.

if you haven't experienced it, you could TRY to understand it, but deep down, you wouldn't.

And yet a Boston player got kneed in the head, one had their leg broken with a slash, one had their finger bit.

This revenge fantasy thing doesn't seem to translate to the ice.

....and yet and yet and yet. We're talking about an article written by a guy whose been around the game first hand for....what? Decades?

I can't speak for everyone who favors a better physical balance, but I'm not saying there is EVER a NEVER if you team ID that says you take no crap from anyone. In fact you may mix it up more depending on the number of agitators you have. Personally I favor Cops over agitators.

The only fantasy I see anyone having is the one where being seen as passive is a good thing......and we're talking hockey here lets remember.

Not your world view or philosophy or anything other than hockey.

A lot of the folks that crack smart are all big on psychoanalysis....or many of you seem to use words that indicate you have paid a ton for professional therapy.

Stop it. It's just hockey. And being big, mean and able to throw your weight around still counts. Even if you want to deny it.

Dead link :(

Quick summary of the article since it won't open?

Seems like he'll just be out for a week, just in case.

"The team is fortunate that his injury isn't serious, and they are lucky they have the depth to plug the massive hole he leaves behind him.

More information should be available once the Rangers return to New York, but it is safe to say that Rangers fans can exhale at this point in time.

Stats via NHL.com."

I totally agree. This is now, and will be our Achilles heel going forward in the playoffs.

When a ref calls the team soft, you have to see it as a problem, but it did seem like G punched him in the back of the head immediately. Someone else on the ice should have at least got in his face!

The problem is McDonagh is lying on the ice and they pulled the goalie. So there's 6 Canucks and 4 Rangers. If you look, you'll see Girardi elbowed Burrows' head and was in the scrum before two Canucks pushed him away, Zucc got involved before being surrounded...

Elleven predictions:
1.This game will go to SO.
2. 4-4. Rangers win the SO.
3. Nash, Zuke and MSL will score in the SO, the oposition won't.
4.Three stars:
J. Moore 1+1 +2
Brassard 2+0 +1
Zuccarello 0+3 +1
5.MSL will score again.
6. Some AVs fan will get a puck landing on his lap without noticing it and take a swing at his buddy. Live camera. The producer puts on the kiss cam but makes it worse. (Not sure about this one).
7.Rangers will score SH and PP.
8.Carcillo will fight properly.
9.Hank will be -90 but save the day in the SO.
10. AV will be asked post game by Pat Leonard about JT Millers off ice issues, and he will state his tremendes hopes for him....and then something about a turning point...matter in his own hands...he's a professional....knows what to do....

That's impossible. Literally.

I got a bad feeling about this one, the Rangers are not used to the high altitude, could be out of gas by the end of the 1st..

You were paid boatloads of cash to play hockey in the NHL?

If G really has to play with Moore , ranger fans will see that G isn't that good of a defense men. He's had the luxury of playing with either staal or MCD.

He will get exposed .... Book it

Okay, because a one game sample size is definitely enough to prove your (ridiculous) notion.
