I think that's it, well, aside from the guys who are done for the season and the ones who may as well not be there.

I'm trying to recall the particulars of the roster emergency exceptions...

From what I remember, they need to play with a roster of 19 for a game to activate the exception. They also have to have less cap space than the annual avg + 100k... I think. Then they can recall enough players to fills those spots, as long as each players salary doesn't exceed 650k.

I'll try to dig up that article from the CBA and post it. I know the Kings used it when they iced 17 earlier those year. The Devils used it twice, one time they only could dress 15 players a few years back.

Basically though they will have to play with who they have tonight.

For my first game as a member I'll be optimistic in spite of the injuries

3-1 Pens :yo:

1. Couldn't you have sent Kunitz to WBS to get the partial cap space to bring up a defenseman? I mean, maybe if you get lucky, perhaps some team would've claimed him.

2. Is it a stretch to think that Winnik isn't one of the Pens top four defensemen tonight?

Sid finally gets a slight bit of breathing room as far as the race goes and Tavares has 3 points already tonight and the 2nd period isn't even over and Ovechkin had 2 points in his game.

Hope Sid has another big game tonight.

More importantly, we need the win. Not a lot of breathing space with Boston ahead in their game right now and one of Ottawa/Florida getting 2 points for sure.

And Washington winning. I wondered if they might falter given the difficulty of their remaining schedule. If today's number on the Rangers is the answer . . .

It's possible, in fact I hope it happens. The NHL needs to have ugly numbers that get talked about.

Project Sid at 1.1 PPG the rest of the way and round up. It's 86 points.

Kunitz has a shooting percentage of 1.7 over the last two months. Who would claim that?

(0% in March)

Do you guys think we could have a pt leader in the 80s as opposed to 90s?

Unless Crosby goes on a ridiculous tear, the point leader will be in the 80s.

Nobody.

But, look Waffle, here's how you have to look at sending Kunitz to WBS to get the cap space to recall a defenseman (you can bury enough of his contract there to do that):

WORST CASE: Winnik stays at forward, Harrington or Pouliot comes up, and the coaches lose Kunitz as an option to sabotage Sid, Geno, and the PP.

BEST CASE: Someone claims Kunitz.

Just because the best case scenario is highly unlikely doesn't mean that the worst case scenario isn't 100% worth it.

Unless Crosby goes on a ridiculous tear, the point leader will be in the 80s.

Perhaps if every remaining game were against teams trying to tank.

I think it's pretty blatant and damning that a guy who usually scores on a ~110pt pace is going to win the Art Ross with a point total 25-30 shy of what he normally gets.

Sure as Hell hope the NHL wakes up this summer and cracks down big time on the officiating. Not just the fact that certain things are going almost wholly uncalled, but that refs in general have been **** at their jobs across the league for far too many years.

On a serious note, I don't think the rest of the league is aware of how bad he is. We could trade him for something over the summer as a best case scenario.

Perhaps if every remaining game were against teams trying to tank.

We do play Buffalo... It's unlikely though. It would require a 1.71 pace for the rest of the season. The team will be lucky to score the 12 goals as a unit

You know, I was going to write 'if the Pens PP didn't suck, then he'd have more'.

Funny thing is, after his first two years in the league, his PP PPG has been under 0.50 PPG every year save 2008-2009, when it was 0.52.

His 109 point year in 2009-2010 . . . it was 0.42 PP PPG, exactly what it is this year.

So, 'the Pens PP sucks' actually is NOT an excuse for the drop in Sid's production.

Yeah, every time it looks like Sid's about to run away with the Art Ross, the guys behind him have big nights.

The only positive thing is Sid has games in hand on those trying to catch him. Problem is, other than against teams like Arizona/Edmonton/Buffalo, I don't know if I have faith that he'll be able to score some 2 or more point games to take advantage of those games in hand.
