I'm with you, Coach.
Shut him down.
That has to be 4-5 last couple of years, and 2 this season relatively close together.
I hope they're smart about this, but do not have much confidence.

I think as far as callups go the Pens just need to put someone on LTIR and finally give themselves some cap relief.

Retweeted Dave Molinari (@MolinariPG):

Putting Letang or Ehrhoff on LTIR wasn't an option because LTIR doesn't exist when a team has fewer than 10 games left.

So we are playing with 11 forwards and 5 defenseman... Can tochett suit up to play a shift

12 forwards:
Winnik-Crosby-Hornqvist
Kunitz-Malkin-Comeau
Spaling-Sutter-Downie
Bennett-Lapierre-Adams

5 defensemen

Also Shelly is an idiot. There's a provision in the CBA to allow a roster emergency exception if the Pens have less than 650,000 in cap space and play 1 game with 18 skaters. After that game, they can recall a skater (think their AAV needs to be under 650,000 so Harrington) for the duration of Letang's or Ehrhoff's injuries.

The Pens can get a 6th defender for the Flyers game.

So not only do we likely have to play with 5 real defensemen. Our only emergency option is moving one of our best forwards for the past couple of weeks to defense. Nice.

I hope we exclusively focus on feeding Crosby points and staying healthy. If we lose 8-3 with three points for Crosby and no additional injuries, that's a win in my book.
In reality, though, Crosby and Malkin will probably continue to make it their quest to get Kunitz his goal and we'll get shutout.

At the beginning of the season our D corp was like this:
Letang-Martin
Maatta-Ehrhoff
Scuderi-Despres
In the playoffs,it will probably be like this

Ehrhoff-Martin
Pouliot-Lovejoy
Scuderi-Cole
If Ehrhoff is out long term......

This is a significant downgrade. What a crappy season.

Literally the only silver lining is Pouliot getting significant ice time. Which isn't nothing, after all.

Except once Perron is healthy again, we have 18 healthy skaters and there's no longer condition for an emergency situation. Thus we'd have to go with 13 forwards and 5 D-men.

I can see it now... Fleury, pulled for the third game in a row after the Isles score their 11th goal inside of 10 feet. We go down 0-3 to the Isles, and he's seen sitting on the bench with a thousand-yard stare as a single tear rolls down his cheek.

Good point.

Maybe Adams or BB can take one for the team and come down with an injury or illness that keeps them out til one of the def come back.
