Essentially a two line, two defense pairing team. Brutal. Team will be gassed come playoff time unless Glen adds in some pieces.

You get Kreider and cally back slot them in there and then you got 3 solid lines. As of now it looks weak but hopefully come playoffs we are fully healthy and can roll 3 lines with out an issue.

Yeah it seems they are gonna have to add some pieces... but at what cost. I think other GMs know these next couple years may be the rangers window to go for it all and I don't know if Sather is gonna be able to acquire CAPABLE AND CONSISTENT pieces for the bottom two lines without giving up something of worth to other teams.

The fact that we have Rupp on the third line, Bickel playing on the fourth, and a very terrible player in Gilroy inserted in the lineup screams they need to add depth, I just dont know how

At any rate I havent been impressed with the Penguins this year and in fact I'm pretty sure the rangers held Malkin to ZERO shots last game.. If they play the way they played on Tuesday minus the penalties they can win this game without a doubt

McD alpha male'd Malkin the last game

Yet Malkin had 3 assists...

Apart from Nash's first goal as a Ranger, there were no positives to take from our first meeting with the Pens. Luckily, the probability that the Rangers play that badly is very low since they seem to have shaken off their rust and started to actually play hockey.

Is there any team in the league that's going to have an impressive bottom 6 when two of their top 9 are hurt?

Really not sure what people expect....

Seriously. Put in Kreider (who needs to play well, but I still believe he can) and Cally (who also needs to play better, but definitely will) and you have three very solid lines with tons of dynamic on each. Defense, speed, scoring, skill, grit.

Our fourth line is pretty brutal, but if Ferry-O can keep it up and maybe we can grab a third liner from a non-contending team and have him play on the 4th we'll be solid.

I think when the lineup is healthy they can definitely assemble 4 lines that can do what should be expected of them and have a solid lineup all around.... The problem I have is the manner in which the parts are assembled.

I still think the greater good of them team would be to put Richards-Gaborik-Hagelin as a first line.. Kreider/Callahan-Stepan-Nash as a second line and Eminger in the lineup full time to round out the defense....

I agree that its exciting to see 3 great dynamic offensive players together on the top line right now, but I don't think its gives enough balance to the lines..... The rangers really need to split up the top line to keep the oppositions defense deciding who to play their top d-pair against.

Although its obvious given the injuries right now that Torts probably won't split up that top line till everyone is back in the line up... he will just play them every other shift

Indeed, by putting our star forwards on the same line we restrict ourselves from one of the main contributions of star players: improvement of their linemates.

This board usually complains that Pittsburgh can put any scrub on a line with Crosby/Malkin and get great production from them. We're not even trying!

Richards made Hagelin a 1st line player last year, put them on the top line with Gaborik.

Nash is at his best with the puck on his stick in the offensive zone, but he is perfectly capable of putting himself in that position by skating into the zone with the puck. He just needs guys that can get open and/or crash the net for rebounds/deflections. While Gabby and Richards can be those guys, and Gabby is probably the best guy at that, plenty of other guys could fill those roles as well. Pyatt-Stepan-Nash.

Hell if you feel the Gabby-Nash chemistry is too good to split up, put them with Stepan and put Pyatt with Hags and Richie (Cally when he gets better). Hags-Richards-Callahan was a successful line while Gabby was still playing with Stepan and AA.

And what is that? Staged fights? Getting deked out of his jock by the opposing scrub d-man? Giving the puck away when pressured like last game against the Penguins? The lack of footspeed? He brings absolutely nothing positive to the table. At least Gilroy can lead a breakout.

Bickel is the worst defenseman to suit up for this team in my 12 years of watching the Rangers.

I doubt Gilroy is leading any breakouts...

I can only imagine that you're too young/don't remember the Gilroy days. At least Bickel can play on the boards. Gilroy is fast... and... ummm, that's it.

So wrong. First off, Bickel is a young guy, and he will make mistakes. I'd rather have that from a young guy learning the game than an old guy who should know this stuff already. Christ, youre going to tell me he is worse than Redden? Worse than Backman? Did you ever see Ulanov? Do you recall Kevin Hatcher as a Ranger? Dave Karpa? Bruce Driver? Purinton? Poti? The list of bad Dmen for this team is so long its laughable, and it's unfair to tab a young guy like this with a tag like that.

Not to mention that we are talking about our 6th defenseman... those guys were all given money (except Purinton) and counted on as top 4 defenseman... sometimes top 2.

Don't forget Rich Pilon either..

A win tonight, would be a very good win. Get's the team over .500. Evens the score with Pens the way they have with Philly and Boston. And gets the Rangers past the tough part of the schedule they had start the season.

Almost... Tampa's on the list. They're playing like they're in a video game. They're scoring and they're getting really good goaltending by Lindback.

Turns out I cant pick up PGT duty afterall. Something came up unexpectedly and I wont be home for the game. Sorry guys :(
