Sandis Ozonlinsh was pretty awful.

At least he scored some points -- and that own goal that broke the camel's back.

How about Boris Mironov? Although he was pretty solid when paired with Malakhov.

So wrong. First off, Bickel is a young guy, and he will make mistakes. I'd rather have that from a young guy learning the game than an old guy who should know this stuff already. Christ, youre going to tell me he is worse than Redden? Worse than Backman? Did you ever see Ulanov? Do you recall Kevin Hatcher as a Ranger? Dave Karpa? Bruce Driver? Purinton? Poti? The list of bad Dmen for this team is so long its laughable, and it's unfair to tab a young guy like this with a tag like that.

Bickel is way worse than all of them IMO. Maybe Purinton or Eriksson challenge him.

im sorry but that rozy/malik pair gave me nightmares

Neither of them were #1/2 d-men but if the Rangers had actual top-pairing d-men available and they could have been slotted in as #3/4 the team would have been one of the best in the entire league easily.

They moved the puck VERY WELL and they kept shooters to the outside well. The puck never seemed to be in the Rangers zone all that much when they were out there.

Never understood the Malik hate.

By the end of his tenure he wasn't playing well, but he was an important part of the team for a while, without a doubt.

you have a very different recollection then. that pair was um... interesting for sure.

i can remember, vividly, lots of acting like a dufus, frequently falling down, making wrong reads and generally playing like creme puffs. i mean both of those guys avoided physical contact like their lives depended on it and handling pucks for them was sometimes like watching guys wearing blindfolds.

and that whole "failure to shoot the puck" phase rozy went thru was painful.

i can also remember where both were benched for the above attributes.

but yeah, i guess they werent that bad...

They had their moments. The first year they were here they were a very good pairing, IMO.

That's because he had finally had enough of his home fans booing him and he just didn't enjoy playing. He went to TB after that and looked good.

I think he finally just said "**** it"

Neither shied away from taking a hit from what I remember. Neither were all that physical in terms of hits but they were normally getting hit quite a bit.

Rozsival is not a soft player. He is not physical though.

A win tonight, would be a very good win. Get's the team over .500. Evens the score with Pens the way they have with Philly and Boston. And gets the Rangers past the tough part of the schedule they had start the season.

hey guys i bought my girlfriend and i tickets for tonights game section 116 club gold seats .. i bought them off stubhub i was just wondering how the viewfrom the seats is and if its in an area with a waiter or whatever. looked like a great view from the picture i saw

Mironov was solid for us. Not great, but certainly not terrible.

My "worst defenseman" that I can remember is probably Igor Ulanov. He was TERRIBLE here. He wasn't here long, but considering he had a decent (if unremarkable) career before coming to NY, I was amazed at how bad he was. Brutal.

Purinton is up there too, although his absolute willingness to defend his team earns him some points in my book. He was mean, dirty as hell, and took way too many penalties, but he was one of the nastiest players I've seen in a NY uniform. And from all accounts, his teammates loved him. He would have had a better career as a winger.

People hate Malik because he was a big tall guy with the tenacity of a koala bear on lithium. He also would appear to play defense while day-dreaming about vacationing on the Amalfi Coast. He was terrible. Great moment in the shootout though.

Ulanov and Purinton get my vote for worst Rangers defensemen since the '94 Cup.
