Well playoffs was a nice change of pace for Hogs

But that team looks like it will be amongst worst in AHL

How do you figure? They're returning most or their forwards. D looks meh, but goaltending will be strong again.

Also could see a couple Swede's coming over, namely Press and Norell.

So if one or two of these rookies such as Baun, Hartman or Danault emerges what happens to our surplus of bottom six guys Stan picked up in the Sharp and Saad deals?

Morin and Tropp will be waived, no doubt about it. I don't see why people think Garbutt won't fit in here, he will be on the roster opening night.

For me, there are 11 roster spots taken (1 for Bickell or Versteeg), 10 if they are somehow both traded.
Toews, Kane, Hossa, Shaw, Teravainen, Anisimov, Dano, Garbutt, Kruger, Desjardins, and (Bickell or Versteeg)

That leaves 3 spots for
Panarin
Tikhonov
Nordstrom
Danault
Baun
Hartman
Morin
McNeill
Ross
etc

there is no way Panarin does not make the team. If he is sent down he could opt out of his contract. My guess is both Russians make the team and one of Baun, Nordy, Hartman or Dannult. I'm assuming both bickell and Steeg go.

What mark does he discuss the trades? I'm sure he's going to trash them all. He's pretty anti-Bowman from what I've heard.
He doesn't like the trades, but it's hard to disagree with his thoughts on them. But he also thinks Daley and Garbutt are decent pick ups, if I remember correctly.

He had Johns as our #1 prospect, and hated that we lost them. I also thought I heard him take a shot at Corey Pronman, saying he only saw one Ice Hog game and declared Pokka to be better than Johns. He doesn't believe Pokka will make the team this coming year, but that the Hawks brass will push for him to make it in the next couple of years to make the Leddy trade seem better.

Listening to it now on my commute home. The Sharp trade talk starts around 3 minutes.

TL;DL "The [Sharp trade] is indefensible."

He seems understanding about the Saad trade and other moves. Worries about who else will have to go to get rid of Bickell, believes it will be Danault.

It makes sense, I love Danault, but if they are signing Kruger long term, doesn't make sense to keep him around IMO.

He had an additional bit of evidence with the re-signing of Rasmussen.

Apparently Rasmussen wasn't happy with his lack of opportunities in Rockford and was thinking of leaving. But somehow the Hawks convinced him to stay. His guess is they promised him more opportunities for ice time and the easiest way to achieve that would be Danault being out of the way.

Hard to see the org trading Danault. It has seemed that Barry Smith, Scotty right hand man, was always in his corner.

I listened to the interview. I tend to agree that the Bickell resigning could have come from above Stan Bowman. Maybe not. We'll never know. More so unfortunate timing than anything considering, considering they were close to a 4 year deal at 2m aav (his true worth) just before the playoffs.

It seems so laughable to me that people think that's how the organization works. The brass doesn't decide at all who plays, and they definitely don't make hockey decisions for PR reasons.

Hawks Keeping Krüger longterm, having Tikhonov and Garbutt and Desjardiens makes Danault expendable.

I wonder what the Hawks brass will do with Svedberg. He's an RFA and at one point (even earlier this past season) the Hawks brass were very high on him. Missed some time in the A, but had a solid season for a shutdown guy. He's 6'9 and skates well for his size. Also a LH defensemen. He's 24 now, so it's now or never for him to get a shot (Doesn't have the upside of Pokka obviously). Should be interesting to see what happens with him.
