Just saw the replay and the side judge already called the game long before Mac shot the puck in. I bet it's probably due to the refs wearing those synced smart watches to being accurate with the times (I read that on the Athletic article).

Guess Killorn's goal ended up becoming the garden variety Mac late, inconsequential goal.

The effort was good! The first half the game we were the better team.

The second half of the game the blues shut the neutral zone down and our guys could not figure out how to keep the puck away from their goalie.

It's so clear that, starting in the defensive zone, they have no idea what to do when they get the puck.

And that's after having difficulty getting the puck!

Seems like that only happens when we're playing 6v5. Therein lies the problem of not having offensive success at 5v5 hockey.

I truly believe the team has entered a new phase of not being terrible - meaning they are absolutely capable of beating any team on any given night - but man they are really sloppy sometimes. They really gotta tighten things up.

Cronin has stated that he cannot sacrifice defense for offense. It is that rigidity in Cronin's mind that stifles a better offensive output, despite having one of the best goalie tandems (if not the best goalie tandem) in the league.
