The one-timer is strong with this one.

He is an overager. Was eligible for last years draft by a few weeks.

I personally had this kid at #13 on my list. Some risk - but man is the reward worth salivating over.
For the sake of argument, let's say Detroit has no issues with getting him to this side of the pond.

What league do you think is best for his development this fall?

That’s tough to say CHL is probably best but he is at minimum a couple years from coming over - I believe he has a contract with SKA for a few seasons so you’ll more than likely need to wait for him to come over.

Need to wait for Putin to die. Dont need him trying to come over in the next year and ending up tranked in the back of a van heading to a gulag up north

I’m not 100% certain with it though - You’ll likely need to ask someone more knowledgeable about his contract in the KHL.

He just got drafted, no need to risk anything for the time being. So I suspect the next year or two he'll be in the KHL, which is perfectly fine by me given that it's a competitive league.

It would be perfect timing for this kid to come over in 24-25. That’s when I expect us to really start being competitive, so if all goes well, that’s perfect timing for his ELC to kick in.

This is kid highly talented, I'm excited.

The clip that starts at 1:59 in this video is all time disrespectful towards that defenseman. Looks like he bobbles a toe drag and decides to just go for a stick lift, the defender just blows his tires, Buchelnikov finishes the goal while rolling over the defender

His DY+1 year (this season 2021-22) is Top3 season in P1 production/60, from last 3 seasons in MHL.

But many russian leave MHL after their DY. Best guys won't play DY+1 there.

He could be something. Very near of what Buffalo-drafted Kisakov has done there.

Overager, late-bloomer, who knows where his ceiling will be? At least he looks like thinks being next Kucherov. Very opportunistic guy.

Is there a way to legally purchase his rights from his Russian club? Some type of buyout clause we can exploit to put him in another league? (DEL, NL, SHL)

Hasn't the NHL officially suspended recognition of the KHL and it's contracts?

I think if the Wings wanted him badly enough, and he wanted to come, they could get him over here and his KHL contract would likely be voided.

Just show the money for the organization.

Think that's how it will work at Russia.

Yeah, but under the current political climate I'd wonder if there would be some kind of prosecution against the Wings involved due to the economic sanctions on Russia...

Pay them out in bitcoin?:sarcasm:

Weren't most of the Russians present for the draft? They got out of the country fine for that. My son's team has a couple Russians on it, and haven't heard of them having any issues coming back for this season.

Russian, small, overager, another winger and blew out his knee in the playoffs I read. I like that we at least drafted him for his skill and upside, that is apparent when you watch them, but there are a lot of red flags. Another guy I think you can still easily get with a pick a whole round later.

All this. Pure skill but not much else. Its either a top 6 winger, or a player who wont play in a psychical league.

There is a reason he only played in the MHL in his D+1 season.

High risk, some reward

The Red Wings have many connections and won’t have any difficulty bringing someone over. People need to chill out over Russia being North Korea.

But the Wings didn't have a pick in the next round.

Feel free to check the news. Kiril Kaprizov has been denied entry to the US twice and returned to Russia. A goalie Philadelphia signed is in a military camp right now. I don't know how north Korea does things, but I'd say there is cause for concern regarding Russians coming over right now.
