He could be just holding place for Michkov.
Watched just third period and didn't notice anything good, lost puck couple of times

Do we know what his contract status is? Forgive me I know I should look it up myself, it looks like he would be available next year from what I have seen but that can be tricky with the KHL guys. Problem with SKA is he could get another deal to stay over there a while if he really becomes a first line winger quick.

That wouldn’t be a bad thing so long as he keeps developing and becomes that scoring winger we hope for. Imagine if Detroit can get back into contention without him and then throw a top six winger into the lineup on an ELC. A team could have worse problems.

'' With Buchelnikov currently playing in the MHL system of SKA St. Petersburg, it’s hard to say whether the team will want him to eventually join SKA’s VHL team (the equivalent of the Russian AHL) and KHL team before coming over, mostly because the Russians might make a fuss of a blossoming KHL-contracted player breaking a valid contract (and KHL players are now considered property of their teams until they’re 26). Are they contracted until 26 or just rights held? Because the NHL is no different rights until 27 (or 25 with 7 years served).

Personally, I get him to NA as fast as I can.

Sign him, bring him over in a trunk. The Klima treatment.

Can't play college afaik, so CHL?

I mean, if he plays 25+ games in the KHL this year and holds his own, just bring him over to play in GR next year. I think he'll be 20 by then anyways.
If he does that, the league will want to sign him long term.

I'm scared of a player signing long term in Russia.
