Seems inevitable. Russia's greatest military edge through history has been the sheer number of men they could march into battle.
Not surprised to see someone like Putin, who has so little value for human life, going to that well.

Comparing this war with the Russian losses in Chechnya, which is a small little area compared to Ukraine, and the lack of supplies these guys had compared to Ukraine, you can only wonder how many of his own soldiers that idiot will send to death in the current war..

And that's only the look at his own military personnel..

----

But yes, from a Wings perspective, prospects being on clubs controlled by Putin's friends is the best case to keep them (and probably even their families) out of harm's way.

I don’t think Buchelnikov would be drafted into the war, but as things worsen for Putin, all bets are off. If nothing else it’s a reminder that anything that happens to this kid on the ice this season pales in comparison to what he and millions of others are dealing with off the ice.

While the rest of the Western world has long since moved into 21st-century modern warfare, Putin is still over here embracing a war of attrition and trying to replicate the Battle of Stalingrad. And now it's time to expand recruitment to backfill the first wave with a bunch of untrained bullet catchers.

Here ya go, comrade, some used boots, expired IRPs, and an AK47. Go get 'em!

Even if he avoids being drafted to the war. It Doesn’t mean he is going to be able to get over to North America.

Rumours are Russian males between the ages of 18-65 will be banned from leaving the country going forward.

Could happen very soon. Fingers crossed it never comes to fruition.

Don’t fall for propaganda. That dude later wrote his account was hacked.
And what he supposedly wrote made no sense whatsoever; apart from it hitting every anti-Russian talking point in the book.

Rest assured, there’s no way Buchelnikov, nor any player is going to war.
In addition to probably having no military skills, hockey players are the privileged. The KHL and FHR have the pull to get these guys out anything.
Players never fought in Afghanistan, or Chechnya; and they’re not gonna start now.

Like most places, it’s the poor and working class who are (unjustly) called on to fight in wars. Certainly not professional athletes.
Buchelnikov will be fine.

For sure. Not to mention that Putin desperately needs as much support from oligarchs as possible these days, and drafting pro hockey players is not the way to do that. I'm not worried about Buchelnikov one bit, my post was more just general commentary on how Putin wishes he could go back in time 40-80 years.

That all said, having military skills or experience is not a prerequisite for warfighting. Not in Russia, and not in a great number of other nations and city states throughout history. For countries like Russia (and the USSR before it), they lean more on their large number of warm bodies and less on training.

Once again come to see news about Buchelnikov , instead just reading bunch of nonsense, just stick to the hockey please

So Buchelnikov is in the VHL now? Not Donbas? Is that right?

Solution:

Trade Zadina right now.
Bring Berggren up to the main roster.
Put Buchelnikov in the trunk of a car heading to Finland and deliver to Henkka.
Have Henkka put Buchelnikov in a freight crate and fly him to Detroit where the Wings will help him get his papers sorted.
Change his last name to Buchnasty.
Assign to GR for the year.
Win win win win.
