They gave up way too much space to Detroit there and did a terrible job getting sticks in lanes. Hank did a great job that period to keep Detroit off the board because they were just ripping shots on him

I think he brings a good amount to the table. I thought he had some untapped offensive potential, but he’s closer to a Haley than a Marchand right now. I’m not paying him more than what an RFA 4th liner should get paid, at least for now. Maybe a little more for the grit.
Exactly. Sentimental feelings has nothing to do with it. You said it perfectly. What he brings is hard to replace both on and off the ice. Now I never said give him whatever he wants I understand the cap. However at least try to see if a deal can be worked out. He loves it here so I think it’s possible he takes a little less as long as it’s a fair deal

I've liked him at center this year.
It’s a very difficult situation. No one has a crystal ball, and this isn’t a player who is injury prone or will break down. With the Panarin and Trouba signing, they expected to speed up their rebuild, but they also need to keep their proven players who will still be in their prime when the Rangers are competing again. What can a late 1st round pick get the Rangers? Could be a bust or someone who will never be as good as Kreider.
People should also look at CK’s point of view, this is his last chance to get a big contract and he deserves to be paid, rightfully so.

I like him at center too, and I think that’s where he stays, but his attributes are more suited for the wing imo. Regardless, he’s good enough to play either.
