Devils general manager Lou Lamoriello said he is “absolutely not†concerned about Larsson’s development at this point.

When I asked him about the team’s young players – Larsson, Jacob Josefson (making his season debut tonight), Mattias Tedenby – seemingly having to wait their turn at times, Lamoriello replied, “Their time will come.â€

“I certainly agree and support the lineup,†he said. “Sometimes young people have to have patience. My expression will always be the same: It’s better too late than too soon.â€

“There’s always a fine line, but that’s a judgment that you make and it has a lot to do with the personality of the individual,†Lamoriello said. “It has to do with the communication and all of that is in a positive light. We don’t ever want them to accept and be happy that they’re not playing, but as long as they understand (why) because we’re here to win and unfortunately along the way sometimes there’s a little disappointment and that’s normal. That’s natural.†Lamoriello said during training camp that it’s his job to create an opening on the NHL team’s roster when a young player is ready to play in the NHL. “I’m still of that philosophy,†he said. “That will always transpire.†He’s not at that point yet this season, though. “Not at four games into a season,†he said. - See more at: http://blogs.northjersey.com/blogs/...neup_tonight_in_calgary/#sthash.6HV6YWSG.dpuf

Poppycock! Tedenby was drafted in 2008, after various injuries and periods of struggle, he finally builds up, is stronger on the puck, and appears to have put it together and he will likely not get a sniff of game action this year unless there are multiple injuries. Odds are, Lou will lose him on waivers. Inexcusable! He already lost Urbom for nothing, when he's certainly a better option than the snail-like grenade handlers. I'm sick of Debonehead's mis-handling of the youth. I've tried to be patient, but it's gone too far. Shape-up or ship-out! It's DeBoer War II!

I don't mind Loktionov sitting. Yes he's played better offensively than Henrique, Zajac and Gionta but what the team needs right now is defense. We've managed to score goals outside of his line so you can afford to sit him right now for a game. Henrique and Zajac aren't sitting because as atrocious as they are offensively, you need them right now to cover up for our abysmal defense.

What we should hope for is for Josefson to play very well and force his way into the lineup. Eventually, Pete will be forced to sit someone else for Loktionov (whether it's Gionta or someone else). Eventually, the lineup will sort itself out and the creme will rise to the top.

Don't get me wrong, I love Loktionov's potential but it's a marathon not a sprint. Let the players figure out who should be playing regularly. Everyone will get their shot. Josefson has his tonight. Let's hope he makes the best of it.

(I also don't think that Josefson is fighting with Loktionov for a spot. I think in Pete's diluted mind he's a wing. That's where Pete's played him anyway. So I think Josefson is fighting directly with Carter and Olesz more than anyone else).

My reaction Fayne being sat again over Harrold and Volchenkov...

Oh well, go Devils. Get more than 1 point tonight!

I forget, with his non-roster status, can Teddy participate in team practices? I haven't been paying attention to whether TG has mentioned him since he's been in limbo.

As Getzo noted when DeBoer was announced as the new coach, the one real gripe Florida fans had with him was the way he handled the young players and specifically the young D men like Kulikov.

I like Pete as a coach, but I too am at the end of my rope. I have no more patience for the way he treats the kids. If I'm Urbom I'm happy I got out. If I'm Larsson or Fayne I'm looking to get out as soon as my contract is up. I can't blame them. It's one thing to play a veteran because he's a safer, more reliable player with less upside, but it's another thing to sit clearly superior players based solely on the fact that they are young. Yes, I do believe this is what Pete is doing and there is no excuse for it. And no, it's not just this year and I'm not basing this on a 4 game sample. It's been this way since he got here. It's unacceptable.

I think Harrold has been a pleasant surprise this year, he's played alot better than i expected. Volch is just awful, Larsson clearly hasn't improved much, Sal and Zid are really hit or miss some days. Basically, there are only 2 defenseman that we can actually rely on and one of them is getting scratched. I still have hope in this team and in Pete to finally get some sense. LGD

To be fair to Harrold, he did have to play with Volchenkov.

Honestly Harrold isn't terrible, he's just not that good. He's decent but that's all and he has no upside or room to grow. There was absolutely positively no reason to lose a guy like Urbom to be able to keep Harrold. None.

Wow I still remember when all the talk was about the offence and all the possible problems they would have. Now the posts seem the complete opposite. What a turn around!

If the handedness is the key factor I can't believe Harrold is in over Fayne that is a sick joke. What I would do if we managed to bring Lemaire back.

Yes he did and he should. About time Josefson is in

lol dude you've been harping to scratch lokti since the offseason. You have a bias against him for some reason. I just want the best players to play and Lokti is fun to watch and creates chances. And he also has the hihgest faceoff percentage the team for guys who play center majority of the time for this team. He's lost in the defensive zone sometimes but def does not deserve to be scratched.

The four centers on this team should be some combo of Zajac,Henrique/Elias,Lokti,Josefson

I think he's been good about laying off Lokti the better he's played, to be fair. But he's right - if Lokti has to sit for Josefson to play, 1 game, then I guess you bite the bullet and hope Josefson forces his way into the lineup and Lokti forces someone else out.

Don't think anyone is saying Josefson is a better player than Loktionov. Loktionov sitting is a means to an end right now. I'm alright with it. I'm psyched to see Josefson.

I want JJ to play as well, but if Lokti was a 1st round pick of the Devils I bet a lot of people would be singing a different song about if he should or should not play.
If it's for one game than its okay but I will be kinda annoyed if it becomes a trend of one of them sitting out while the others play, but both JJ and Lokti should be in the lineup and not at the expense of each other.

It's kinda weird for an organization to be so thin at forward prospects/young guys and then put them in the pressbox.

I don't how Loki pushes back in unless Elias or henrique go back to wing. He won't and really shouldn't center the 4th line. No other line to center with the lineup as is tonight.

I know making Volch a health scratch makes it harder to shop him around but his play is making his less of an asset every game.
